Here is my Miracle Man clip.
I decided to do something a bit different. I don't have the monster chops of Tim, so you won't hear any outrageous soloing.
The reason I like the Miracle Man is that it's a great natural guitar tone. I've heard nice tones from other pickups, but they often have exaggerated tonal qualities. They sound good alone, but get them in a mix and they kill the bass or the vocals or any other instrument.
Miracle Man's sound incredible in the mix. You don't need to tweak the tones all day to make it work.
So my sound clip is a song I just finished. The guitars are recorded with a single SM57 into a mic pre then recorded. No eq, no compression. No mixing board even. Just a little reverb on them.
It's literally a 1 minute setup time getting the guitar tone. I couldn't do this with my other pickups.

Hey, that's really cool, Mark! :)
Thanx for sharing the new tune, too. Is it going to be historical in nature? It has that epic feel that I love!
What other forum has freakin' Metal Gods like Jag Panzer posting clips??!!
-
This song probably won't show up on any Jag Panzer recordings, it's just me in my basement.
The Dean guitars owners group is doing a cd, so I'm submitting this track. I figured it gives me a chance to play a solo!

LOL!

Hi,
That sounds really excellent, very different, i could just picture that in a movie.Very cinematic.
I agree with you about not having to tweak the sound to get a great tone, just plug in and its there.
Nice one.

There's something celtic in there too!
Film scores on the horizon then??
Love it! :P
-
Oh - and the tone sounds great too!

That's a dream of mind (scoring a film). Maybe someday!
-
Thanks for doing that for us Mark-killer tone and playing :D
-
WOW!!!
Awesome tone! Great music! Sounds like the Romans are invading. Very good playing, not too much guitar, not too little and a very tastefull solo.
Was that the Caddy you used? (is it a select or a usa model?) And what was the amp?
-
While you're at it ... what did you use for the orchestral sounds, too?
-
Yes, that's my Caddy. It's a U.S. Time Capsule Cadillac.
The amp is a Bogner Ecstacy. All tone knobs on 5 (halfway up).
I wish I had some recordings saved before I got the Bare Knuckle installed (big difference). I do all my own demos (for albums, and things like this) in my basement. I like to try to get a good sound. Typically it's tons of time changing eq settings, moving mics, etc. All of that time wasting stuff stopped when I got the Miracle Man.
With the Miracle Man it was just put the mic on the cabinet and go. I realize for an album that I'd probably spend more time, but for my home work I'm excited how this came together.
About the orchestral sounds - most of them are from Synful. Synful is a new software product from the developer of Waveframe. Back in the days of the outrageously expensive digital workstations (like Synclavier) there was a small company called Waveframe that made a workstation to compete with Synclavier and Fairlight. I don't think they did well, but they had some incredibly talented folks working for them.
So some of the guys from Waveframe started Synful. It's a new technology for synthesis. I love it. It's got a very real sound to it.

Sounds great! \m/
I think I might have to yank out the SD custom in my Ibanez and stick a miracle man in one day soon.
-
Loved it. I can see what the others are getting at. It'd make a great film score.
-
Umm were to start really, that was just absolutly awsome man, i love orchestral strings, i think they just sound so damn beautiful, and powerful.
Great guitar tone, and the play is brilliant, doesn't have to be out of this world chops, just has to insite an emotion, and that clip does it well, can't wait to get my miricle men.
An also thanks for the heads up on Synful, i really wanted something like this, cause my cheapo keyboard doesn't really cut it.
-
Hey Mark,
The Synful plug is great - probably the most useful bit o f software of the year - +1 on thanks for the heads-up!
-
that sounded really good, i thought it sounded really cinematic aswell 8) good job! if my mule comes tomorra be expecting to hear some clips. il attempt a bit of sabbath, some led zep, maybe some heavier stuff aswell, all moulded into one clip if i can figure it out :P

Well, I'll back up all the superlatives -- that's a very cool piece! Though judging by the title, it's more like the Romans being invaded than invading . Really shows the scope of what can done, musically, in any case!
-
Thats a fantastic clip there mate! It's really cool sounding with the other instrumental sounds and the guitar, which does sound top notch. Is that software synful expencive?
-
I'd forgotten how good the tone is on this :)
-
awesome clip
-
Awesome clip!!!!!
.......picture knight in full battle gear standing on a hill with the wind blowing his cape behind him at an angle while he stands legs astride looking into the wind with a mean looking axe(guitar) slung on his back, while camera flicks to raging battle scenes...
-
A bump for this great clip from Mark!! :)
-
+1. I kept loads of BKP user clips on my iPod whilst on my quest to pick my own pups, but this is one of the few that I kept on for listening to after. 8)
-
Awesome!!!!!
-
hate to bring up such an old topic, but i figured this clip was good enough.
is this guy still around?
-
Aww man, I was thinking of doing a clip with my newly instlled miracle man, but somehow I don't think it's quite worth it now!
Lovely stuff :)

Bizarrely, I had just listened to this again today for the first time again since last month. It's still good! :)
-
*sigh* i hate clips like this, you think you've got the ideal pickup configuration set in your head and are ready to go order then bang something awesome sounding like this turns up and forces you to have a rethink
It is awesome though, well done definatly one of the best clips I've listened too so far :)
-
That's exactly the tone I'm after for my next guitar. It reminds me of the tone in the opening chords of "Into the fire" from Dokken but with less high end. Really amazing. I think I'll go for the Miracle Man finally as Tim suggested also.
-
nice and very fresh wasn't the MMan type of clip I was expecting
-
what drums you using?
