Cliff Burton, best and only bassist for Metallica, was killed 20 years ago today.
RIP, buddy.
Post your favourite Burton pics below.

don't have any pics, but agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment. a truely unique talent sorely missed. says plenty that metallica themselves still talk about him regularly, and of course paid tribute to him on the recent tour.

RIP Cliff
*pours a scotch*
*Toasts to his legend in metal*

The man was simply a hugely talented musician, awesome bass player and the spirit of early Metallica. They went downhill for me after Cliff passed.
R.I.P. Cliff, you still rule!

Definitely! RIP Cliff

I didn't even know it was the anniversary but last night I found myself wondering what would have happened if Cliff was still with us;
Would Metallica still be around? What would they sound like?
You know, he was only 24 when he died.

Fantastic bass player.

He made me choose bass as a teenager, and I played bass in a band for a year. Good memories
He was a truely unique bass player, if you watch cliff'em'all you'll see how weird was his right hang finger technic. It seems he was more influence by 70's prog rock than metal (listen to the bass carefully in The Call of Cthulu, genius).

Cliff was the best bass player the world of metal has ever seen. We still miss you Cliff. RIP

not sure if this is right, but wasn't it down to cliff for those awesome epic intro's such as orion, as he was into classical music and all that.... or was that Lars?
MMM
-
I seriously doubt that was lars.
-
Same

Orion
LARS?!?!?!
It was cliff.
Lards is there for arrangement and arrogance purposes only. He barely plays the drums.

Didn't Lars take lessons after Master to improve his playing before recording Justice :?: Cliff was a helluva songwriter and bassist.

bloody nora, I saw Metallica on in Manchester just before he died. For me "Ride the Lightning' was Metallica's peak. I think CB was a major force in the creation of that album. For me it all got lost after "and justice for all". I wonder if CB would have dragged them off into a better, non MTV, direction. I remember the day I felt totally old and past it was when I saw Metallica performing on MTV with Claudia Schiffer in the front row.
