Title: More PAINKILLER!!!!!!!!
Post by: Dakine on September 29, 2006, 11:44:19 AM
OK,
well ear still fubar (guessing got an infection now, Doc. visit again :( ), excuses over LOL.

Anyway, two more clips.

One 'clean'er and one kinda 'NWOBHM' grind.

Same recording technique as first PK clip.

Nick

Hey Nick, really really liked the clips. Particularly liked the "clean" one- had a great feel. The bass player in my brain was pounding away.Had that great "Faces" vibe if you know what I mean.

Nice.... still kinda tempting to put a Painkiller in the bridge of my ESP (I was initially going to wait for them to come out but now I am leaning Nailbombs).

Your "clean" clip sounds awesome.  Nice playin'

I'm so settled with my Miracle Man now that I don't even know if I 'want' to change.  I've been waiting for the Painkiller since the start of the year though and I DO want to compare them with the MM.  Damn!!! - I'm gonna have to buy one aren't I.  oh well, could be worse (heh).

I loved both those clips. They seem to be pretty versitile. The 'clean' clip had a great Stones vibe to it. Judging by the dirty clip, these pickups should deliver a wide load of hard hittin' rock. I can imagine myself playing Alice Cooper's Poison with a Mockingbird loaded with Painkillers.

(fading away to a dreamy state)

Cheers fella's.

I stand by my earlier description, 'New Wave of British Heavy Metal - In a Box!'. Course they are VERY versatile, but from starting point I really think that is the tone.

Dunno when Tim will have em ready for marketing but will be interested what packaging he decides on

Yeah I think the same thing.... the Painkiller might be a little too dark/fizzy for what I need this guitar for and I have Evos in my Jem which sound too similiar (the only guitar that I own that is not getting BKPs.... because I really like the Evos).

But damn I still can't get over how good that "cleaner" clip sounds... something that's not in its job description.... although it doesn't work for my style much (I have a bit flashier, more "in your face style"), it still is tempting...  I'd be interested to hear how they sound totally clean and on warmer amp settings.

Like everyone else, I thought the tone was great; I beleive I may have to mix one with the Warpig for the SG. Damn so many choices and so few guitars!

I just noticed in the new Total Guitar, there was a mini-roundup of best pickups for metal or something, 3 BKP's were in it - Painkiller, Warpig and NB.. so does this mean the development for the Painkiller is doine, and its ready for ordering the "final" product?!

Want one for my strat :P

Really like the clean sound!!!
I mean, the other one is cool also, but lately I'm really into those lower gain Crunchy sound where you hear all the nuances...

Chiming in late here, but these are great!  8)

I've got an old Charvel Charvette HSS lurking in the States in my parent's garage -- I've been thinking of pimping it up for 80soid metal goodness, and am now wondering whether the H needs to be a Painkiller .... :)

Thanks guys.
These things are versatile!
Of course all BKP's (ones I have/tried) all very organic and great and P*SS all over Evo's (yuck!).
The range of these things is enormous. Unfortunately (till my missus and gear arrives from Texas) I was using my mates setup and do not have enough time with it for good 'tweaking'.
I am dying to get my gear so I can actually mic the Mesa and show how gnarly these things can truly get, let alone the new amp I am planning on.

I think I need to do a nice clean, warm clip and also a VERY heavy 'nu metal' type clip next.

Hurry up UK Immigration so my stuff can get here

Is it just me or does the Painkiller clean have an almost Telecaster vibe to it? It's a great clean sound for such a vicious pickup.  Then again all BKPs seem to clean up very well all things considered.

it does clean up VERY well, kinda shocked me just how well. But thats just more in it's favor IMO. :)
