Title: Got some new geetar pics
Post by: Brow on October 02, 2006, 07:24:17 PM
Hey guys.

Just incase anyone's interested I managed to snap a few pics of my Charvel Fusion Special (thanks to Davey for the confirmation!)

I'm seriously considering widening the route slightly where the 2 single coil pickups sit so that I can fit a humbucker in there (if it's possible anyway). Probably a VHII or (on TO's suggestion) a Cold Sweat :D

Sorry for the rubbish pictures but the light in my room is dreadful. It gives an idea though

Maybe you can fit a Knuckleduster (see Nathan Shepard guitars for more).

To be honest, I can't usually get on with these types of guitars because they usually have quite thin necks and I can't seem to get used to them after playing myLPs etc. I dunno, something about this 1 just grew on me

That would only apply if it were a humbucker to begin with.

I'm still toying with the idea of trying to fit a humbucker to it, but as the route would be a Parallelogram and not a rectangle like most pickup routes are, I dunno if it's even possible or not

S'ppose I should speak to Jonathan at Feline about it and ask his advice

Could you elaborate on this please Phil? I can't seem to find any info about it

The knuckleduster bridge and neck are made for Nathan, they are 2 tele pickups in a single mount, so they are a humbucker, but they sit at an angle

They look quite interesting :)

Do they have a website or anything where I could get a price from?

That guitar looks like cr@p!
You'd better send it to me so you don't embarrass yourself.

Sweet guitar!

If this forum has taught me nothing else it is what a child of the 80's I truly am.  I constantly get GAS pains for super strats and other 80's goodness, I think I'd do a back flip if I could find a Hamer Diablo or Centura.  Well I don't miss neon green and spandex but you get the picture.

Someone on another forum I go on says he had this exact same Charvel and managed to fit a humbucker to it without too much work.

Guess I'll try a Cold Sweat or a VHII in it :D

What ever you do with it brow, you will have fun! Super strats are fun fun fun! Don't re-paint though! Have you got the whammy to put in it? Give it some grief if you have!    8)

I like the colour, so that's staying put :)

Someone on another forum I vistied said he got a Tremspaced humbucker to fit in this Charvel simply by slightly sanding out the 'division' between the 2 single coil routes and then mounting the pickup in a mounting ring.

Depending how brave I feel I might try it myself. If not, I'll prob give Jonathan at Feline a ring and see what he'd charge to do the work.

I do also have the whammy bar, but it's a single locking trem (based on the Floyd Rose II apparently), so I'm not sure how much abuse the trem will take
