Title: Serious BC Rich GAS attack
Post by: Ratrod on October 05, 2006, 04:55:13 PM
The BC Rich imports are getting better and better. Since the early 90's I've been wanting a Mockingbird Arch Top Supreme or an SLP. And now they're making a 'cheap' version of it. I haven't even got my new Gretsch yet but this will be next.

I've finally found some cool pics of it. And a site!

Nice guitar!  Most BC Rich guitars are a bit too metal for me, but I always liked the Mockingbird (and the Bich, and the Eagle).  Wish they'd gone for the old "R" headstock logo instead of all that binding and inlay frippery though.

Bit of a contrast to your Gretsches!

I've seen some of the Korean made neck thru, beautifull! But I never liked the BC Rich headstocks :|

I checked out the site; those look really nice, and I'm especially digging the white one with black hardware, but did anybody else listen to the sound samples and wonder why they didn't at least make sure the guitar was properly tuned before recording it? :D

I'm guessing they'll be around $1000.- on the street.

As for the soundclips, the Rockfields are better than the old BDSM pickups but still cr@p IMHO.

Imagine how that Mockingbird would sound with some Rebell Yells in there.

Actually they don't use the R headstock logo because it is reserved for custom made BC Riches only.

To be honest that is one of the sexiest guitars I have seen in a long time!

the Floyded neck through New Jersey models (Flat quilt top) are available for @£380, so you'd have to imagine that these will come in under £500. Damn sight more intersting than an Epi Les Paul  8)

NJ actually stands for Nagoya Japan where the early imports were made in the 70's. A bit wrong of them, I think, because the new NJ's are all mede in Korea.

You're right these Mocks are more interesting than any Epi.

Thats the first nice looking BC Rich I have seen for about 25 years.

I did like their old 10 strings (whatshisname in Golden Earring used to play one)

George Kooymans.

They“re making Korean versions of those too. The first one is a six string, the bottom one a ten string.

I like those spalted maple Biches (as opposed to "Be-yotches")!

They'd look better with double-cream pickup bobbins though.  Which is easily rectified.

That's him

Even those ones look good to me (and I don't like the pointy guitars that much)

They look so much better without all the black & red paint
