I'm in the process of building a guitar, and I've been toying with the idea of a color scheme similar to one of Steve Vai's Jems (http://www.purpleguitars.com/guitarpages/other/ibanez_jemuv7bk.html). Would this be possible for BKP?

in a word, NO.
Tim has some pupleish ones but not multi colors.
Check a search for thread about 'bobbin toppers'.

Yeah, see thread below. I see you're looking at green bobbins, same as me. Apparently the minimum batch order size would be 100, so we still need to find about another 90-odd interested parties:

just buy about 20 guitars each, ya KNOW you could BKP em all

Yeah, but the thought of green humbuckers in my Firebird or my Pete Townshend SG makes me feel a bit queasy.... PDT_047

Of course it would. A green pickup would only look good in a cheesy shredder guitar. :)

I haven't got any shredder guitars, because
(a) All those sharp angles and pointy bits look funny on a player who's short and a little on the, er, chunky side; and
(b) I can't shred. Unless paper counts.
Actually, my green (or green/black zebra) pickup - should I ever get it - is destined for my SG-X, which is a fairly hideous colour called Army Green. I even managed to get an "ugly colour discount" when I bought it, and I'm the world's worst haggler.
But I love it anyway, it's my favourite. :D

A strategy I've found that works is "I've got a grand, in cash in my pocket - will that be enough?"...usually works for stuff up to about £1200, if you're lucky :P
