They both look awesome, Laney looks a bit complicated though :P Cant wait to get my GH50L next month :D

I'm guessing they are similar.. so. Does the VH100R need a bit of cranking to get a decent tone or is it not too bad with the master quite low?

The SG Standard is the one with the Riff Raffs. The ES-347 will soon have a set of Stormy Mondays.

It is quite dawnting when you first get it, but after a bit of messing about it's pretty easy.

With the volume below 1, the tone is cr@p, sounds like some ones holding a blanket over it. But crank to just a little bit over one and it sounds fine and it's still ok for bedroom levels though still shakes the floors

sounds even better when really cranked though, like most valve amps.

Edit:

and here be my Strat which i've had refretted with 6100 frets. I've been playing this one alot lately.

Cool stuff, I love natural strats! The cab I've got (well, getting) has castors so shouldnt shake the floor as much as one without (hopefully anyway). Not sure if its safe to run a 16ohm setup through an 8 ohm hotplate either.

Tom

16 ohm setup into 8ohm hotplate?

Don't. Bad Idea. At least one thing will end up fecked.

Here's my humble gear:

And I'm also modding a Charvel model 3.... I've filled the singlecoil-holes, one of the pot-holes, and the 5-way switch hole. I'm getting a Musikraft all birdseye maple strathead neck, OFR, and of course, a bareknuckle pickup! Can't wait to see her finished  8)

EDIT: Photo...

here's part of my rig, anyway.

The VC-30 and the Eggle. The indistinct black blob on the floor is a crybaby.
The Tele is off for a bit of erm...rehab at the moment. I was going to sell it and buy a feline, but those plans are on hold for the minute (Sorry, Johnathan!!) because It's perfect for a gig I've secured in the Medium-term...

So, after it's had a bit of a spruce, I'll post it too.

yes and no.. you need to EQ it properly for the given volume

when i was in london, i tried it out (though it was a full stack) started with the volume very low, and had to tweak the knobs to get the desired levels of treble (low end wasnt a problem), as i turned it up (gradualy to about 6) i had to re-EQ slightly, but it only started to sound more and more massive.

striking a power chord with an all maple feline gunslinger, with the volume on 6 is brain melting!

i <3 tube amps!

oh .. the splawn.. i hate ben for his quick rod.. it's the most kickass sounding amp ever!!! but the pricetag is something i cant afford for quite a while and IMO.. the GH50L is the next best thing for me!

1 short delay on most of the time.

1 long delay.
