Should have tried harder to play close to the original, but hey, where's the fun. So did this in 1 take. I like the effect of having no effect in the middle of it :)
Oh yeah and it is a MusicMan Axis holding the Rebels ... probably not meant to play Floyd

Wow.. is that the Shiva? It sounds amazing whatever it is. Perfect tone.
-
mmm - sounds phantazztic! Can't wait to get my RY's
-
Wow.. is that the Shiva?
Nope, just the Tonelab, with the JCM800 and Tube Drive setting. Recorded dry and added FX in Logic Pro.

:o You know you've done a good recording when JP doesnt ask for it with more gain and more mids with less bass but slightly more treble :P
That Tonelab sounds amazing, I thought this was your real amp aswell :)
-
Awesome clip, man. Personally, I think this sounds even better than some of your Shiva clips, but I put this down to how it was recorded, or maybe its just because of the song or the mix with the backing track.
Keep posting those Rebel Yell clips - can't wait 'till mine arrive, so I can stick 'em in my '59 Replica!
-
Wow, great sound!!! :o
-
How much post-recording production was done there Hunter?
-

Yeah it's tough isn't it. Should I go on stage with the Tonelab and leave the amp at home? Well one thing is for sure: Recording the TLab is much easier than an amp and cab with its dynamics.
How much post-recording production
Just Delay and Reverb on the guitar track and Adaptive Limiter in the Master. No EQ, compression or anything on the Guitar.

Hahaha, indeed, you are damn right! Thanks man :)

Cheers Hunter. For modelling stuff, that does sound really good and very simple to do too.
-
I don't like Pink Floyd but that's an excellent tone.
-
That modeler is shockingly good :D much better than my cr@ppy line 6 :( thing. How much are they??? might consider a little selling of some old equipment /i have lying about cos I can't afford/not allowed to use a proper cranked tube amp in the house  great playing as ever though well done old bean
-
Tonelab is a good investment, especially for practising it's amazing, really.
I would change the EH tube to a JJ a grade (around 10 GBP) as it's a little darker and smoother, the EH is quite a bit scratchy. And then it will take some time to tweak, I used to use too much presence for a long time, now I realise that with lower presence settings it's much closer to a real amp (gotta A/B it from time to time).
One thing: there are no operating system updates, amp upgrades or something. Korg/Vox don't offer it and I have the feeling the OS is fixed and couldn't even be upgraded without replacing chips. So what you get is what you get.
On the other hand that is positive as you spend less time dealing with gear software versions management and more time with playing:)
-
I also thought you hit it well. The tone was great and the playing none too shabby. Nice - Kudo's :!:

I see the price in the 450-499 US range
-
hmm... I think you're cheating here, you just took the original song and then cut it down :x
On more serious note, that tone was PERFECT!!
First time I heard someone hit the David Gilmour's tone with such simple equipment!!
-
great sounding stuff going on there..
-
Cool sound Hunter!!!
Would you mind sharing some of your awesome patches? :D
(Or do you happen to post them on the german Korg/Tonelab forum??)
-
woohooo thanks guys, so much praise for a shitety modeler, man. Now I really consider playing the Tonelab through the PA
Patch sharing no problem, just need to save them on my computer. I'll mail it to you if you give me your email adress.

Totally ace, on the contrary I find I can get Gilmour cleans and solo tones out of my RYs, they are pretty damn versatile!
Nice playing, like the added improvisations, muchas cool! 8)
