Post by: _tom_ on October 15, 2006, 09:54:29 AM
Edit - Just recorded a better version of this song, playing is much tighter and theres only a few small mistakes this time

Thanks for posting that Tom !

I have a set of Mules in a Les Paul also, but use them mostly for clean Peter Green (ish) blues tones. As I am also an  enthusiastic Van Halen listener (but not player) - It was most entertaining and re-assuring to hear  that the Mules can be so very versatile should I ever need to play more rock. I had heard Tim's demo, but yours made the cleaner top end detail and harmonics stand  out better.

Nice one.

Regards,
Derek.  :D

Cheers for the replies, I thought the playing was really bad

For my strat I'm not sure if I want another Mule or a VHII for the bridge position..

Nice playing, tom.  I think I can listen to this and figure the song out better than listening to Ed, cuz it's so mch clearer.   reconfirms my mule choice for an lp copy,  cheers

Cool stuff Tom! Great playing dude and your tone sounds lovely, is that your new Laney? 8)  8)  8)  I love the 1984 album. I got the official tab book yesterday as it goes. Looks very challenging but better than some of the bodged up stuff on the net! Where did you get the backing track?

Get some VHII's for the Strat! Is it Alder or Maple?

I managed to get a biker pub an extention till 1:00 am playing this on a bashed up old thing and the DJ sang it on some mad Bike Rally in mid Wales up the Black Mountains. Didn't buy another pint all night! It sounded shitee too but they didn't give a toss!

Nope thats the V-Amp 2 still, dont have proper mic yet! Tbh the Laney doesnt do an authentic Van Halen tone (well I havent had much time tweaking it..) that well but what it does is great anyway :P

My strats alder I think, heres a pic of it, looks so much better now I've put another coat of oil on it and let that soak in! Will probably be replacing the bridge pickup with something Bareknuckle, and reverse zebra (I think thats the right one)

Backing track from an old Total Guitar, its not in Eb though so doesnt sound quite right. Can upload it somewhere if you want?
