Title: Power conditioner

I like the rack ones because they have a number of outlet strips on the back that you can use to save having plugboards in the rackcase

The filtered power always seems like a good idea - dont think it has any major effect on tone though

Post by: 3th3r on October 19, 2006, 05:31:55 AM: EVH used a variac to decrease the line voltage to get his famous "brown" sound. Lower voltages cause the power tube (valve) filaments to saturate faster, which can also mean they won't last as long.

When your amp manufacturer designed his amp's soound, he designed it with a certain A/C power. Any different power and the amp will not be up to spec.

Very true , but I think we are discussing power conditioners that improve the stability of the mains supply rather than lower or raise its voltage deliberately

Will help but not as much filtering maybe as some of the Furman rack mount conditioners and their ilk maybe
