Title: Spacing
Post by: samoth2 on October 24, 2006, 01:57:18 PM
I'm ordering a pair of humbuckers but I don't understand the difference between spacing.. When is 50mm best and when is 52mm best?

I was about to say that this should be in an FAQ somewhere, then I noticed the ordering FAQ (http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10) thread.

Generally speaking, 52mm are for trem guitars, 50mm for fixed bridge.  If you want to be sure, measure the string spacing with a ruler.

AFAIK all neck pickups are 50mm, regardless what you specify.

Yep, best thing to do is measure the actual string spacing, not at the bridge but over the pickups.

If you have a Floyd or vintage-style Fender bridge, you'll definitely need 52mm for the bridge pickup.  If you have a modern Fender or Gibson, Epi etc, it could go either way.
