The copper story reminds me of some blokes i work with. They ALWAYS pick up any scr@p copper and if they can get away with it, they'll take a 12ft piece of copper piping and stick it in their van. It's quite funny to wave some in their face and see their eyes light up

A 2 pence piece was worth around 3p a few months back and the world and his wife are getting their hands on it now.
Melting down munitions for scr@p? Sounds like a candidate for the Darwin Awards! I used to rent a room from a mate of mine who used to do crazy things, not artillery shells in fires mind! He got some blanks for some silly toy he had years back and thought it would be a good idea (after the pub) to wedge one in a door and hit it with a hammer and centre punch  The thing went off and shredded the ends of his fingers and there was splattered blood all up the kitchen walls! Silly C*nt! Anyway the fingers were not as bad as he thought and after a bit of 1st aid and a few days he was ok.
He did make a good thing in the garden once using a can of expanding foam and a fire!  Well it was his garden, I just used to laugh!!
He set my old van alight too, for a laugh! Well it was f*cked but outside your own house?

Years ago I used to work in a shop and we would always stick a 2p to pavement outside with superglue - what fun we had laughing at old people trying to lift it off the ground.
All though one duffer took out a pen-knife and chiselled it off the pavement - as the late Roy Castle said - Dedication is what you need...

Ahh yes that was a good one, the old superglue trick! My friends and me did one in a department store in Enfield with a whole 10p! We had to contribute smash to the fund as it was a fair bit back in the early 80's to a 15 year old! It was there for a year after as we stuck it to a marble floor in the lift lobby and it wore out the details on it. They wer the old big 10ps as well, remember them?
I've got story's like this by the shed load, some are way OTT for you kids though!

In college it was quite fun to charge up a large capacitor, and then throw it to somebody.
Usually people where dumb enough to catch it (some on multiple occasions) and I have to admit it was funny when that thing discharged.
