I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
Can you not resist a deal?
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
How many guitars do you have anyway?
What guitars do you want to get next?
---------
My answers:
I have bought a couple of gutars for pickups.
I do enjoy the little and the big differences.
I can resist a deal 95% of the time (by the logic "Its a good deal but the stuff I have is better so screw it" where this doesnt apply has led to more guitars)
I do buy guitars for funcitons (trem, no trem, dfferent tuning, bluesy neck pup, blah blah)
I have had guitars I didnt play (sold) and dont often (dont want to sell)
I own 7 guitars now (inc 1 bass) and a total of 11 (edited from 10: forgot one) over 8 years of playing.
7 string and a classical. I'm very satisfied with the tones I have at the moment though (guitar-wise if not entirely amp wise).

I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
Yes.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
Yes.
Can you not resist a deal?
No.
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Yes.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
... Or 3 months, yes.
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit ?
No.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
A few.
What guitars do you want to get next?
A few more s00per strats, an Explorer shaped guitar, a gold top with P90s.
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
I haven't bought a new guitar for a while, but I should be getting a few new ones soon.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
If you mean "see what a certain pickup is like", then I normally try to get to try it in a shop (assuming it's not BK).
If you mean BKP, then yes.
Can you not resist a deal?
No. If something's too good to be true, it normally is, and this usually becomes apparent when you try it.
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
yeah, to get a tone/vibe I want.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
yeah. damn kramer and wrong nut width!
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
yes, there is. But then I normally try another style of guitar I hadn't tried before and decide I have to have it!
How many guitars do you have anyway?
2 at the moment.
What guitars do you want to get next?
Legra King V with MM/CS, and Gordon Smith GS2 single cut with MQ's. Just need to get round to ordering them.
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
Yup. Each one is different and has its own personality.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
To a certain extent yes, but it's all about the sounds to me e.g Tele, Strat, LP, SG etc.
Can you not resist a deal?
Nope. Never. Not at all. Not in a million years.
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Yep, it's related to the sounds above. I get them for their tone or vibe.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
Certainly do. I've got three guitars that I've not even played through an amp as they're tucked up in their cases for "future use" ;)
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
To a certain extent, yes. But it always changes with me! For a while it was "I just need a Tele then I'm done". Currently it's "I need a semi-acoustic/Rickenbacker/Gretsch". Then there'll be something else...
How many guitars do you have anyway?
Not enough, but my wife may disagree as I'm running out of storage room...
What guitars do you want to get next?
Rickenbacker 325, Epiphone Casino, ES-335, Relic Esquire or Tele, White SG Special...
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
I guess so. Really that’s why I buy new guitars.....they tend to be similar to what I have but im normally looking for something that has a subtle tone difference etc etc.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No. I currently use the same pickups in each of my guitars (im looking for the tone of the wood to be the difference) and I only swap a pickup if I don’t feel it works in one of the current guitars due to wood, construction, purpose of guitar etc etc.
Can you not resist a deal?
There aren’t enough guitars I have any interest in buying to cause a problem with resisting a deal nowadays.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
No. When I buy a guitar its a carefully thought out thing.
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
The acceptable limit is what you desire and enjoy in my opinion....if your hobby is buying guitars as collectables for example I see no reason why you shouldn’t buy as many as you feel you want to (as long as its within you financial ability and don’t cause serious problems for you or others) if you love guitars…why not. From a personal point of view I don’t want to have more than 6 electrics at once. No one really "needs" allot of guitars its all about the fact we all love to play them and own them....imo of course
How many guitars do you have anyway?
Three currently and I have another planned for the not to distant future.
What guitars do you want to get next?
I would like another organic with some features I have lined up that I would enjoy.
Nice thread by the way. :D
-
I'm far too lazy to answer all those questions :P
Although I'm always seeing new guitars on t'internet and thinking I'd like them, but I realise I never actually need them. I only have 2 electrics and once I've done up the strat, I dont think theres really any need for any more.. I just dont think I'd play em all enough to justify keeping em. I have that thing where I feel 'guilty' about not playing the other guitar enough as it is, cant imagine the guilt if I had even more guitars
-
Do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
To a certain extent; I like having guitars that feel comfortable for different applications, but I also like certain features that crop up on most of my guitars (maple fretboard being the most obvious).
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No, that would be far too expensive a hobby for me. :)
Can you not resist a deal?
I have to hold my hand up to this one; the most recent guitar I bought was one I would probably not have considered at full price (Schecter Ultra III), but since it was less than half price I snaffled it and haven't regretted it so far.
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Only in as much as I think "I yet don't have a guitar with P90s/a Bigsby/a semi-acoustic, so I can justify that".
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
No, I'm pretty good at resisting a guitar that won't hold my attention. All of my guitars are played regularly.
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
I'm not sure I think there's an "upper limit". For some players, one guitar will do everything they could ever want, so that's their limit; other players could collect guitars until they run out of space and still justify another purchase for "rational" reasons. For me, I think I'm approaching the point where all of my guitar needs are met in logical terms, but that won't stop me.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
Six electric guitars, two acoustics, one Warmoth set of parts waiting to be finished and assembled.
What guitars do you want to get next?
Another Ibanez RG (I already have an RG570 and an RG670DX). I'm leaning in the direction of an RG560 or RG760, but I might also get a seven-string if I find one I like. I'd also like a vintage-style Stratocaster and something like a Les Paul at some point, and maybe an electric 12-string as well.
-
i'm with _tom_ can't be assed to answer all the questions, but i can always find an excuse to buy a new guitar :D course, i can never find the money to buy one....
-
I shouldn't answer these questions because I am the most irrational guitar buyer here! Tim knows this and said to me when I ordered the PG set (and told him I would have to figure out which guitar to put them on), 'why don't you just get another for the pickups!'
After a bit of thought, I decided that was the way to go! However inbetween I have picked up a new guitar (partly because I have always wanted one of these and partly because the price was right), so now I had to order yet another set of BK's (there is a pattern here!).
How many guitars do I have, well if we split them by types (bass, accoustic and electric), I have 6 basses (I used to be a bass player too), 6 accoustics, and far too many electrics to count! However in my defence I should tell you that I have been buying guitars for over 30 years.
Sometimes I don't play one for months, and I think that I should sell it, but then when I take it out I remember why I liked it in the first place. I do have some guitars I bought for a particular sound (my Fender Electric XII for example), so those don't get the play that my Les Pauls get, but overall I do still play most of them, just not enough!.
I don't think you can have too many guitars, but I told you I am the wrong person to ask. My first wife wanted to know why I needed 12 and I was sort of able to explain that to her, but she didn't like it when I told her she would go before some of my guitars! I was right though
-
i have over twenty guitars, and i must admit i have even bought one just for it's colour!!
sometimes i think, " i could do rightly with maybe three guitars..." but i always find a reason for the existence of all the others.
i love my guitars, and i don't care that i haven't room for them, or that the sexy chick last night thought it was sad, that's her problem!!!!
i have always found it odd that i don't feel the same way about amps, i want good amps next!!!
-
i have always found it odd that i don't feel the same way about amps, i want good amps next!!!
I'd rather have loads of amps than loads of guitars for some reason.. I think I get "attached" to each guitar I buy (sounds REALLY sad  ) and I dont like buying another just because I feel like it. Plus amps make more of a difference to your tone anyway, with good pickups and a load of different amps I'm sure I can get (nearly) all the tones I want :)
-
:D I believe that one of the reasons i buy a guitar every now & then is that the thrill helps keep me playing & practicing. I wonder if i`m the only person here that that applies to ?
I own 1 Bass which i bought only 1month ago because there will be a time in the near future when i start serious recording & i`ll need a good Bass guitar......It also happens to be an original Fender Squire JV Reissue from `83 so its an investment as well.
As for guitars i own 4 at the moment allthough i`m on the look out for another particular type at the moment.
Yes 1 of my guitars spends most of its time in a case & i dont play it that often but i really like it as a guitar. Unlike my Strat which i hate
As for a sensible upper limit ...No i dont think there is, If people can collect stamps or coins then why cant they collect guitars ?
:D 8)

:D I believe that one of the reasons i buy a guitar every now & then is that the thrill helps keep me playing & practicing. I wonder if i`m the only person here that that applies to ?
Nope - that's me all over. I always want to get new guitars that could open up new styles of playing to me, to keep me interested, and help me improve. wen i get a new gutiar i play for weeks, and learn a style suitable to that insturment...
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
Yes I do, although of course the number of new guitars is proportional to my spare cash, which has not been much the last few months sadly.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No, but I'd like to ;)
Can you not resist a deal?
It depends. If its in a shop and the sales guy is a total arsehole, then I'll usually pass on an deal they offer me. Usually I'm tempted by deals, but its no problem to resist
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Yes, I brought my last flying V to have a floyd rose trem
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
never
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
Theres probably no sensible upper limit, but I think its important to grow your collection slow, and appriciate each one properly.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
five
What guitars do you want to get next?
A SG junior, ESP Edwards '67 style white flying V, ESP Edwards 1954 style black beauty les paul, another flying V for MQs (maybe a faded cherry), a Tokai alder Flying V for Cold Sweats, and some more besides. My dream is to have a real 1970s flying V... maybe some day (sigh) All these plans will probably have to wait for some more years, and probably my taste will change by then. I guess I'll always dream of that 70s V though.

I always remember a quote from Dweezil Zappa (of all people!) who was talking about the best gear you could get for different budgets e.g. £500, £1000, £2000, etc. You had to get at least one amp and one guitar for each price. He said of one of the higher budgets
"You just need one really good amp, then get a bunch of different guitars for differnt sounds"
I've kinda stuck with that!
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
No. I stopped looking for guitars when I realized that my gear roughly covered the musical spectrum.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No. Hovever, last time I cut an extra hole on the pickguard of my Strat to get one more BK single coil.
Can you not resist a deal?
I can.
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
I consider a guitar a piece of art when I buy it, later I mod it for a function, though, to bring out the best of it.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
I'll never get bored of my current guitars.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
2 electrics, 1 classical and 1 acoustic.
What guitars do you want to get next?
I don't need any more guitars.
-
Peter, you're so ... negative! LOL

Interesting thread...
at the moment, I have two working guitars and one "project" on the go. The Eggle definitley gets the most playtime, but when I'm in the mood, the Tele gets a fair ould spanking. The project, my very old, much abused Sunn Mustang, is pretty much unplayed at the moment, but once I get it finished, I think it will slot into position No. 2. Then, I'll sell the Tele, and buy the feline I've been fodging about.
What do i want next? Apart from the Feline, obviously, something with conventional humbuckers and a decent trem that isn't either a "METAL!!!" pointy axe or a superstrat type of thing (Can't get on with the skinny necks). I have a severe gas-attack for a Tokai Jap tele (doublebound, quilt top), but that's mainly cos it could be negotiated for £400, and there's a Tokai SG special (in white, wrapover bridge, dot neck) which is calling to me each time I walk past the shop. Obviously, at some point, I'd like to get my Jap Strat back from whatever scumbag stole it, but have no real desire to get back my US Voodoo-caster, because it was, to be honest, a bit of a mutt sometimes.
I have bought most of my guitars for a purpose (generally, to actually own a guitar after one got nicked, sold in a moment of madness or suchlike). Deals, in my opinion, mean very little. I could have had a supposedly "Better" Gibson over my Eggle for roughly the same money (slightly less, as it goes), but I wanted the Ugly One, so that's what I bought.
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
No, only so many I want/need for this
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No, not until Tim goes public and enters the Stock Exchange :)
Can you not resist a deal?
Ah, the BIG weakness, LOVE a deal :)
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Yes and no, depends how diverse the situation is. I think a few choice guitars can cover most.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
Def. not, they ALL get rotated :) Cept the poor ones still in Texas for now :(
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
Only limit is use/desire and funds. Though at times it can become like 'art collecting' (too many and some only 'wallhangers').
How many guitars do you have anyway?
5 Electric and 1 Acoustic/Electric
What guitars do you want to get next?
The one I 'like better than my money' :) Although got enough really :)
-

I've kinda stuck with that!
Im a one amp kinda guy also. I find im after "my" sound if you like and then i like different colours of that sound that I get with different guitars. Just little subtle differences go a long way imo.
However if you want to play various styles all the time and want a real variety of tone types I can understand amp buying more.
I should also add that a truly great, responsive amp will do many styles...all be it with a similar character attached.
Anyhow im getting well away from the topic here hehe.
-
I'm more of an amp guy too - I used to have around 15 amp heads alone.
My guitars are down to bare minimum now... Les Paul std, Fender Tele Custom, jumbo acoustic, '67 SG jr.
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
Yes, but sometimes the little differences are so little it really wasn't worth it. :?
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No, but I do sometimes buy cheap(ish) guitars with the intention of upgrading them immediately, like my PRS SE EG. And I've bought loads of pickups and ended up never using them. Or using them 10 years later in a different guitar.
Can you not resist a deal?
I can't resist a really good deal, so I try not to look out for them. My real problem is I'll read a review or see an ad and get a bad GAS attack - then I'll either buy the guitar immediately on impulse, or, after a few weeks, the feeling will go away!
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Not really, in the sense that I never actually need that guitar. I'll think it would be nice to have an HSS guitar, or something with a trem, but it doesn't really make any difference when I'm only playing them at home!
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
I have done - those are usually the impulse buys, and they end up getting sold. Others go in and out of favour, periodically.
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
For me at the moment, the volume of my house really is becoming a limiting factor - guitars, CDs, DVDs, books, magazines are taking up every square inch. Realistically, I think 5 or 6 would be a sensible limit - a Strat, a Tele, a couple of Gibsons with HBs, one with P90s. And 1 or 2 more for the hell of it.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
Err, about 20... Including 3 basses and 1 acoustic. The rest are electrics, including 5 or 6 that are currently in bits or out of commission for one reason or another. I know, it's ridiculous, I can't even play properly.
My name is Philip and I'm a GASoholic.
What guitars do you want to get next?
I've been mulling over getting a Highway 1 Strat, but I think I've almost talked myself out of it. Longer-term, I really want to get a Flying V - I like the '58 style, so it'll probably be a non-Gibson, maybe even a custom. And if I ever achieve something that I think deserves a reward, I'm going to order a Bravewood Strat.
-
I mean, do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
To some extent. It gets overkill at a certain point.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
Yes and no. I buy different guitars for different sounds, but I'd hope stocks would suffice for at least one of them which is quite often not the case. In the case of the last guitar I bought, a ESP Custom for dirt cheap, that thing definitely needs new pickups, and the previous one, a Carvin DC127, the stock pickups aren't bad at all, but I could do a little better and get something that doesn't feedback as much (only BKPs seem to be better with feedback too, my one BKP equipped guitar is the one guitar that wont feedback uncontrollably no matter how much gain I use).
Can you not resist a deal?
That's me for sure! Last two times I went to a music store I walked out with some used guitars for $450 or less, and in neither case was I looking for another guitar (although one of them I did have a friend in mind who I knew was looking).
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Yup! Trem, no trem, clean, metal, you name it! I've got guitars to cover it all!
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
All mine are for playing.... maybe if I got a 1950s strat or Les Paul in collector's condition, but other than that there's really no point to not play a guitar you own.
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!".
When my bank account runs dry.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
Four electrics and I had a 1950 Gibson acoustic but my mother threw it in her basement and it flooded and now itt wont remotely hold a tune ;(
What guitars do you want to get next?
Maybe a Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, but I'd trade my Les Paul in for it most likely (or put Mules in it).
-

I can't resist a really good deal, so I try not to look out for them. My real problem is I'll read a review or see an ad and get a bad GAS attack - then I'll either buy the guitar immediately on impulse, or, after a few weeks, the feeling will go away!
Shop at some major chain store with lack of good stuff or at least of any interest considering what you already have.... Guitar Center is usually good for this...

 . Fortunately/unfortunately I live in London, where nearly all the guitar shops are poorly stocked, staffed by arseholes and vastly overpriced. So it's easy not to give in to temptation.
I usually end up travelling outside London when I actually want to buy something.

Interesting.... usually cities have better selection don't they? At least I find it that way in both Massachusetts and New York and New Hampshire. There isn't too much in Vermont, and I have never went to guitar stores in many other states. Baltimore has some nice stores, but one of them was staffed by pricks. The other was cool though. But I can't say that about Maryland because that's the only guitar shop I have seen in Maryland too...
-
Do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
Sure, I like to own different instruments because they inspire me to play other things on each of them.
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
Not really, the PU's are not a main consideration for me when buying instruments. They're only one part of the package.
Can you not resist a deal?
Oh yes I can! I rarely pick up guitars because they're discounted or cheap and almost never buy on impulse.
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Yes, to play better, sound better and/or learn new things. A new guitar must suit my playing style to some extent or there's no point in getting it but a new voice or feel is certainly appreciated. A slightly different case was my current Epiphone Elite Casino, I already had a Korean Casino when I got it which I traded in so that was more like quality upgrade on basically the same instrument.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
Never happened, never will...
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!").
My experience is that I don't like to have more than five electrics at any given point because I then tend to neglect at least one (ie not play it for months). At that point I usually consider selling it. Over the past few years the number of guitars I owned actually decreased but the quality improved a lot.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
three regular electrics, an electric 12-string, a nylon string classical = five. I have sold or traded seven guitars since I started playing electrics.
What guitars do you want to get next?
I recently got a nice vintage '63 Jaguar so I'm pretty much skint and not looking out for anything at this time. Restoring and playing it will keep me happy in the coming months. In the future I'd consider maybe getting a matching vintage Jazzmaster if I can by then find one for a reasonable price. I'd love to get a Gretsch but they don't come cheap either.
-
Interesting.... usually cities have better selection don't they?
Well, to be fair, London has lots of guitar shops, but most of them are surprisingly small. And they seem to lag behind in getting the latest models. The guitar superstore concept hasn't really been tried in the UK (AFAIK, London's the only big city I know well). Sound Control and Turnkey are pretty big stores, but they have drums, keyboards, DJ equipment etc as well as guitars.
Even some of the bigger mail-order dealers like Coda and Peter Cook's actually operate from tiny little shops in the sticks. I guess that's how they keep their prices down.
-
Do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
Yup, same as said above different guitars infloence me to play differently
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No but have tried most brands and would stick to BKP's (all of my electrics have at least one BKP)
Can you not resist a deal?
Yes and no, have passed up a few lately but glad I didn't with my Guild bluesbird, was less than half price. New old stock
Although the esp al600 with emg's for half price was a mistake
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
No I bought an classsical guitar to play rock, yeah each one for different style or type of music or sound(again even more since putting BKP's in) Although the variax line6 was a mistake(was nicer with a new neck..just not me) and a esp al600 with emg's also a big mistake and traded
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
No if don't like or made mistake I sell or trade
If you stick your rational head on (hard with guitars, I know!) then do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit (and "The volume of my house" is not an acceptable answer!").
Yes almost bought a second hand duesenberg, but near christmas funds are low and other things had to come first
How many guitars do you have anyway?
Guild bluesbird, parker fly, Gib Sg, Ibanez sas36fm, Kimbara accoustic 12 string, Antoria copy of a j200 accoustic, simon and patrick accoustic, ibanez bass, classical guitar and a mandolin
What guitars do you want to get next?
Well a Duesenberg starplayer tv took my fancy and got me interested in P90's and hollowbodies....so something in that line..but am skint for quite a while
-

YES!
I 100% agree.
-
the Guitar shops where I live in Hull arn't the worst but the two main ones are now owned by same company....no more playing two shops of each other for better price
-
do you just keep on getting them and enjoy all the little differences?
I never intended to collect guitars, nor to own so many. Yes, each guitar does something different - either a particular sound or a different tuning/string gauge or I just like the feel of a different shape neck etc...
Do you buy new guitars so you can try new pickups?
No, never. Not even since I discovered BKPs :)
Can you not resist a deal?
Best deal I can remember getting was a US Jackson for $1300 but I was looking for something similar anyway. If I really want someting I pay whatever it takes to get it, but I never buy something just because it's cheap.
Do you buy a guitar for a function?
Yes, I always have a particular use for it in mind when I buy a guitar.
Do you buy guitars and not play them 3 weeks later?
Only once - did a STUPID part-ex deal for a guitar that I didn't really inspect closely enough or play for long enough. Almost as soon as I got it home I realised it was an absolute dog - hardly played it & sold it later for a substantial loss. To this day I'm not sure what the hell I was thinking...
do you think theres some sort of sensible upper limit?
Whatever it is, I'm waaaaay over it :) Why is "The volume of my house" not an acceptable answer?
If I had to, I could cover most of my playing needs with four guitars:
one with tune-o-matic bridge & 2-humbuckers for "main" guitar
one with floyd rose & 2 humbuckers for leadwork
one with either floyd or wilkinson & H/S/S for single coil cleans and as a backup to the above two
one acoustic
But I wouldn't have the huge palette of sounds currently available to me & wouldn't have as much fun choosing different guitars. The last time I owned as few as four guitars was when I was about 17! After I got my custom Jackson I had in mind around six guitars, each different, but somehow the list got longer as other guitars caught my eye & before I knew it, I needed a dedicated music room in my house.
How many guitars do you have anyway?
As my wife might be reading, I'll take the 5th on this one... :)
What guitars do you want to get next?
Something else with a floyd (either another Warmoth, or a custom built FV), A dreadnought acoustic, A nylon-strung acoustic, Another custom shop Jackson, A 3-pickup tele, An SG, A doubleneck
None of these has any chance of happening. Well, maybe I might manage the first...

the Guitar shops where I live in Hull arn't the worst but the two main ones are now owned by same company....no more playing two shops of each other for better price
I believe there's a guy on the market somewhere in Hull who sells used guitars etc? I haven't had chance to check him out yet though...

Well, to be fair, London has lots of guitar shops, but most of them are surprisingly small. And they seem to lag behind in getting the latest models.
Supreme stores usually kinda suck too though, because they always carry all the stuff you see in every store (Marshall, Crate, Gibson, Fender, and some cheaper Ibanez, Jacksons and LTDs and that's about it)

I've got 4 and another on the way. F8ck it, they still don't amount to the price of a wank*ers car!

How many guitars do you have anyway?

i used to collect lots of guitars, i've had about 24 at one time.
at the moment i've got one electric guitar, mainly due to financial trouble over the past 16 months which isnt an issue now thank god.
but over that 16 month of skintness i've learnt to resist buying stuff for the sake of it and really don't think i could find a better guitar than my strat anyway.
although i will be looking for another strat w/alder body (instead of ash) to use for single hum van halen (VHII of course) style setup.. apart from that i'll be pretty setup to be honest, oh and once the splawn arrives i might upgrade to a 4x12 instead of 2x12 cab at a later date.

I fancy a strat with a VHII too! I'm listening to VH all the time at the moment and I love it! :D
