hey, im looking for an overdrive, or maybe a fuzz, pedal to use with my vox ac30 and gibson les paul with blackdogs. The only other effect i use is a keeley java boost which is unbelievable for distorted crunchy rhythm or single notes, but i want a pedal that with give a 'liquid' gainy solo boost without colouring the tone to much or adding cr@ppy solid state fizz. Now, i know that sounds picky, and maybe i'm being too picky but if anyone can help out with any info i'd appreciate it.
I have tried 3 pedals thus far (ts808, SD-1, HBE powerscreamer) and was not satisfied with any of those. I was thinking of heading in the direction of eith a boss BD-2, Marshall BB-2, or even a fuzz ( i like what i have heard about the analogman sunface), but since i have not used a fuzz it's only a guess...

xotic effects BB pre amp

Yeah the BB Preamp i hear is a great little boost pedal.
I think the TS-9DX that Robert Keeley sells is a great pedal too, it gives a very smooth lead tone.

D*A*M build cracking fuzz boxes, and had a mention in the "Front End" of Nov's Guitarist mag. A review is imminent! Hand made in the UK.
Their clones of classic Vox, Big Muff & other fuzz boxes are great, but their original designs (based on older circuits) are superb.
Now available from Vintage & Rare in the UK & D*A*M's own eBay store.
Currently on eBay is a "reliced" Ram Head (mid 70's Big Muff clone).

A DAM Drag N Fly might be worth a try - cracking fuzz tone imo

The Marshall BB-2 was one I was going to recommend.
Others that come to mind are Electro Harmonix Big Muff or Double Muff...
Incase your wondering what a double muff is:

Or maybe even a Marshall Guv'nor
Just some ideas,

MI Audio crunch box is a perfect match for BlackDogs, at least I find. Very very musical and capable of lots of gain without losing definition. Can have much bass without mudding, can have much treble without being harsh.
It's a great pedal for a reasonable price (100$)

Keeley DS-1 Ultra to combine with your Java Boost should work nicely.
Or a Fulltone Fulldrive II FM whatever model he has now (mine's a '98 and as such os about three generations behind the curve)
