Title: Nailbomb position help

Hi
I'm thinking of getting a Nailbomb and replacing the Neck pickup of the Dean Razorback i am getting in december. Does this pickup sound awesome in the neck position? and does anyone know if it sounds good in the neck position of this particular guitar?

If nobody else answers this, I'll be able to comment in a week or so when the NB set I ordered arrives :) - at the moment I only have an NB bridge...

If it's a Nailbomb neck model, it'll probably sound great in the neck position. :)

rofl... very true... what im wondering is if it sounds the same as a Nailbomb in the bridge, because i have heard extremely good things about the bridge one, but im not sure wit the neck one. is it possible to put the bridge one in the neck? i bet thats a stupid question tho  :)

I cannot really comment on the Nailbom bridge because I dont own a guitar equip with it.

But as far as your question:

Is it possible to put the bridge one in the neck?

Yes, I think it is but it will probably sound very odd.

Although some people have become famous because of the out a phase sound some pickups give when put in the wrong position.

I suppose you would have to hear it to see if you liked it, but I am not sure if anyone will be able to post a sample of it in the wrong position because I am not sure if anyone has a nailbomb bridge in the neck position.

All I definately know is that the bridge pickup will not hold the same sound that you have fell in love with if put in the neck.

Well at least it shouldn't....

Then again I could be completely wrong  :wink:

ok, that has helped, thanks! I recently read one of the reviews in the reviews section and it said that they can make a Nailbomb neck pickup that has the same tonal qualities as the bridge one, but it is installedin the neck! i will send Tim an email about it. thanks

search the forums and you'll find some really nice clips of the nailbomb neck pickup. I think it sounded absolutely fantastic. A very good match for the aggressive bridge pickup. It had really really nice cleans and awesome overdriven/distorted tones. In general I think the nailbomb set has a very unique sound and the lower output neck version just adds to the versatility of the set.

I just got my nailbomb bridge and trilogy suite single coils.  The Nailbomb bridge at least is very well balanced and super tight and yet mean all at once!  I've heard a few neck clips and they sounded pretty damn good, but it's only a few.....

i suppose now the the question is:
Nailbomb neck vs Nailbomb bridge: which is the best metal rhythm pickup?
also, i am interested in which has a fatter low end?
or are these some of life's great unanswerable questions?

What do you mean by metal rhythm pickup? do you mean best pickup for playing rhythm? I'd say the bridge pickup in the bridge position. But if you're looking for a neck pickup (sometimes referred to as a rhythm pickup) I'd go with the neck model.

The neck pickup is designed to work in the neck, and the bridge is designed to work in the bridge, you don't need to complicate it any further. I'm sure Tim has tried bridge pickups in neck positions and he decided that a special neck version is much better.

yeah, you are right. i might as well just get the neck unit. but first, i need to know a couple of things. is the neck unit available with a higher output?
and does it have a nice bass response (im obsessed with that low end!)?

Possibly, you'd have to ask Tim, but why not just get the standard spec NB neck?  Are you worried it's a bit weedy or something? (it's not :))

everyone describes it as 'warm', which is not exactly the most essential component for a metal rhythm tone, or is it? hmm
