Title: Painkillers
Post by: maliciousteve on November 05, 2006, 10:11:17 PM
are my new favourite pickup  :D

I went to Music Live today. Had a good chat with Tim about Iced Earth and talked about the Painkiller for abit. I got to try them out on Tims Feline Explorer (which is an awesome guitar, the best playing explorer i've touched) through his JCM800ZW and Boss SD-1. The tone i got out of that set up was MY TONE. That's the guitar tone i've always dreamt of in my head.

But anywho i'm fitting the Painkiller into my Warmoth Mockingbird tomorrow and i'll try to record something with my mates laptop with anyluck.

Every one should listen to the painkillers!

I was thinking about an Explorer with Painkillers for a future project.

I saw this beautifull walnut stained Japanese Tokai Explorer on the internet. For the look it should have black open coils with gold screws and slugs.

I'd love a full review of the Feline Explorer with Painkillers. A clip would be even better.

No hurry though. I just bought a Gretsch wich pretty much broke the bank.

A new one, or an older model?  If they've started producing Japanese Explorers again, maybe they'll do some Flying Vs as well.  Fingers crossed.

Have you still got the weblink?

I installed the pickup on my Warmoth (i done it myself this time and was quite pleased with how easy and quick it was). The only thing that annoyed me was that the strings scratched the pickup cover and has left a mark on it. But never mind, still looks cool.

As my Warmoth has a Swamp Ash body it's brighter than the Explorer i tried them on, but it still sounds awesome. It's very chuggy but the response of the higher strings is just as good. Has a terrific 'bite' to them that lets you hear all the notes being played. It sounds TONNES better than the X2N i had installed in there (sounded far too mushy and wasn't great for leads).

The black cover makes the guitar look more evil too.

I can't record a clip unfortunatly as i've now got to work tonight and i'm busy for the next few weeks, so god knows when i'll have the time to record something. but i WILL DO when i get the chance.

Ah yes, thanks for that!  Lovely guitar.  Basically the same as Joe's isn't it, apart from the colour?

I guess I'll have to keep hoping on the V front.  The Korean ones are OK but they're not made of mahogany (or korina).

What Gretsch did you get Ratty? I saw a beautiful two tone cadillac green Gretsch Anniversary a few months ago and haven't stopped gassing for it despite the terrifying price tag :(

I got me a 6128T-TVP Power Jet. Just under 2000 Euro. It's worth every penny.
