hello,
- does the Painkiller sound especially good in any particular wood? (i.e. mahogany vs alder)
- does the Painkiller clean up well enough for clean song intros? I'm thinking of a single bridge humbucker/single vol knob configuraton.
thanks

1. It was tested in mahogany and basswood guitars and I have it in a Basswood guitar (no idea about alder).
2. Very much so yes.

I have a set in a Musicman John Petrucci model and yes they are fantastic ! Clean up lovely then wind the volume up and go with a smile !
Sound nice tapped too which is unusual for ceramic magnets.
Buy em you will not regret it !
Currently own
Miracle Man, Nailbomb, H Diver, rebel yell set, Mules, Sinner, M Milks, ITour set, Trilogys , Crawler set and now Painkiller set.

I tried them at Music live in Tim's Feline Explorer (half a tree) Mahogany sounded cool
Petrucci is basswood and they sound fab in that !
Tried the bridge model in my alder strat ....sounded massive !
Would think they have enough balls and chunk to sound great in any wood i can think of !

I also tried it in Tim's explorer and it sounded incredible. I now have one in my Swamp Ash bodied Warmoth Mockingbird. I now love the tone of the Mockingbird. Swamp Ash tends to sound alot brighter than alot of other woods but the Painkiller with the cover balances out all the frequencies.
I've not actually used it clean (too busy loving the dirty) i'll try it out tomorrow morning.
