Post by: NiCkMiLnE on November 12, 2006, 06:09:12 PM
hey guys,
im new here, and im looking for a new humbucker for my tie dye strat
it has a basswood body and maple neck.
the tones im looking for are kse/lamb of good metal tones, cleans arent too important, but nice cleans would be good.
its a bridge pickup im after, any help would be appreciated. :P

ive heard some amazing Lamb of God Nailbomb clips, and it nails their sound pretty well, and with some tweaking, you could probably get a great KSE tone out of it. Also, the warpig is heavy, with more bass than the Nailbomb, and a higher output. nice taste in music  :D  ... i cant decide between the above two!!!

Hey fellow KSE fan,
I'd say Nailbomb, the Warpig might be too bass heavy for a KSE but with a basswood body I don't know. I'm heading for a Nailbomb set for a KSE toned guitar myslef :)

a nailbomb would be an awesome choice... as it has the tonal qualities of a more modern KSE tone which you are craving for (i would love it too!)

I would agree and definately say Nailbomb.

But I have to say in the nicest possible way:

YOU MONSTER!!  :)

How can you disgrace a great psychedelic tie dye strat by playing Lamb of God on it !!

Thats a guitar me or my fellow modern day hippies who are fans of 13th Floor Elevators, Donovan, Cream, Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Arthur Brown etc...

I wants it before the evil metal fannns defaceees ittttt.  :P

How much??

I like people playing totaly out of place guitars like that. Like when Allen West (Obituary)  was playing in Six Feet Under with... a cream colored Fat Strat!

I want a pink Hello Kitty Strat to play grind core with

A friend of mine has one, the version with USA SD pickups. It does a pretty good LesPaul blues/Metal kind of tone. It should certainly sounds amazing with some BKPs :P

And why did you chose a MM A5 and not a nailbomb? I'm after the same KSE tone so I'm wondering...
Title: metal bucker
Post by: MDV on November 13, 2006, 08:52:49 PM
I'd go ceramic all the way, every day and twice on sunday for KSE.

well i spoke to tim about it, and he reccommended that spec for an emg 85 like tone, emg 85 being the buckers adam uses :P
could somone mail him about the kse type of tone, see what reply you get?

I thought it was 81s

Hard-edged metal amps fooled me

I stand corrected!

hehe, nah
he uses the 85, with framus/5150's

Post by: MDV on November 13, 2006, 09:54:16 PM
See, there you go!

Framus and peavey make any powerfull pickup sound tight and sharp, like a ceramic!

Errrr....I'll get me coat

bye bye!

hehe
so guys, the custom option or a nailbomb?
Title: metal bucker
Post by: MDV on November 13, 2006, 10:32:21 PM
Either.

I just compared some KSE to some NB clips and what I imagine an A5 MM will sound like based on the difference between my A5 pig and ceramic pig.

But I'd sway toward the MM. Its more focussed, and if the A5 ups the mids and smooths out the treble you should be nearly there.

The NB is a bit open and organic for it IMO.

Damn! I was going for a Nailbomb calibrated set and now I don't know anymore

Well, I say its a bit open and organic. Compared to what I imagine an A5 MM would be like!

Its probably the best standard BK for it.

Unless your amp isnt all that high gain (marshall TSL levels, say). Then its pig all the way. Closest BK to an 85 in spec and overall tone (though not that much alike really: see the EMG thread, nothing sounds exactly like an EMG, they have their own very distinctive tone).

I got advised to go for a (ceramic) miracle man for KSE (amongst other things, mainly of the hair, metal, and thrash variety) by tim, too.

though I don't play any LOG or death metal (or similar), KSE is about as heavy as I get. So maybe that's it.

I didn't get advised to stop off at the pub for a quick pint or 10 before I got home, though...

garg, i guess I should've read on. it seems like KSE was about the only tone I wanted that alnico V was better for, then, so no surprise I got recommended the ceramic version.

Move along, nothing to see here...
