Hello everyone. New to these forums. Coming from across the Pond to challenge you Brits! :P
Anyway, I'm building a strat, and am looking hard at the Slowhands. My style would be almost constantly clean, but every now and then I feel the need to let 'em rip SRV style. Now, I've been reading the forums about the Irish Tours, and hear that they're a bit bright, which is not what I'd like.
So, my question would be how good the Slowhands are clean. Also, feel free to advise something other than Slowhands if you feel the need to.
Oh, and if it matters, the fretboard would be ebony and the neck is rosewood. Body's just the standard alder.
Thanks in advance guys.

The Slowhands are very rich clean-nice rounded sound-I can only compare them to my other set of Apaches and in comparison they have thicker mids. They do cleans extremely well is the short answer.
-
Oh, and welcome to the forum.
-
I dont think ITs would be too bight with 250k pots and a rosewood neck
And welcome!
-
Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it.

Are you dom from UGF??

I give up! I've actually sat and thought about it.
Come on now, reveal yourself!
Yeah, Dave Mc is the way I heard about BPs too. Nothing like shameless promotion! :P

So which pickups set do you reckon you are leaning towards??
RorySRV,
-
Still the Slowhands. However, my dad got me a guitar without my knowledge. It's a strat copy, so maybe Irish Tours aren't too far off.

To be fair, I was here before either of you. And you don't even own any BKPs... Which of course means that I'm entitled to just as much commission as you are, despite having mentioned BPK on UG somewhere in the region of twice.

ANOTHER QUESTION:
Ok, so I'm considering a HSS setup for added versatility. The Slowhands are given. But what to put in the bridge?
In terms of sound, I'm looking a ZZ Top, George Thorogood, Skynyrd tone. Southern/Blues rock, I guess.
What would you guys suggest for that? I was thinking Black Dog, but I really don't know. Advise please.
EDIT: Oh, is it possible to get a prewired HSS pickguard?
-
I am probably not the best guy to recommend a set because I havent had that much experience of BKPs but I will stick my neck out and say:
A Black Dog or Mule and 2 Slowhands.
And I am guessing you should be able to get prewired HSS guards if you can get prewired SSS guards but it might cost you a bit more. But you will have to email Tim on that one
Hope this helps  ,

Spoke to Tim ages ago and mentioned ZZ Top style tone (pre eliminator)and the suggestion was for The Mule (though the guitar was a wolfgang)
As for George Thorgood, I would say some variation of the P90 would be most appropiate.

Thanks for the input everyone.
But, like boys with toys, new things just come up or spring to mind.
I was also thinking about a Les Paul type guitar. Yeah, that means I have another question!
Ok, you know the styles. Blues Rock/Southern Rock/Post-Rock.
Oh, and for those of you who don't know what Post-Rock is, here's one of my favorite Post-Rock bands. Explosions In The Sky. http://www.myspace.com/texasband
Listen to "Your Hand In Mine," it's my favorite.
ANYWAY, you can tell by that that I need great cleans as well. So my plan is a Mississippi Queen in the neck for those Thorogood sounds, and I'm asking you guys what would be good in the bridge.
ADVISE PLEASE.
Thanks in advance guys.
