Title: Just how tight is the ceramic warpig?
Post by: OD-Black_Fire on November 15, 2006, 08:22:32 PM
I'm thinking about getting a 7 string for b tunning. I'm going for a tone like on Monotheist by Celtic Frost.  $%&#ing giant bass, like, ground shaking low end, thick mids and sharp but not too harsh high end, with gain that will make your rig sound like its about to blow up into a wave of feedback that will kill everything in sight but never actually does.  Overkill. I need the bass to be sergicaly tight. I want the bass to sound like its wrapping around the strings of my guitar and bounces right off the pick.  I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.

Now, I've heard that the ceramic warpig has that bone crushing low end and is very tight, but how tight is it to a EMG 81 or a Miracle Man?  Remember I'm going to be using it in E + low B tuning. Standard 7 string. I might drop it to A at times also.  I want it to be really tight.  The Miracle Man can probably tight enough but from the sound clips the low end isn't big enough. Comes of more like what you hear on Ride the Lightning by Metallica. I'm looking for Reign in Blood by slayer tight or a tight version of Korn. Zerstoren my Rammstein is another good example also. Darker and thicker than the MM.

Tight as a gnats chuff. Not that I've ever....moving on....

Utterly surgical, and unlike most other tight pickups, utterly brutal and utterly clear.

And I play mine in c# and drop b, 11, 15, 19, 33, 43, 60.

Its exactly what you need.

Are they more brutal than a regular Warpig and in what way? I've got two ceramic pups already, so for my next project I thought the Alnico V might be more sort of organic. I want to de-tune down to C or C# too with that pawnshop Schecter Omen 6 and give it a pet name!

Here goes....

So I tell the swamp donkey (ugly girl) to sock it (suck it?) before I give her a trunky (?) in the tradesman's entrance (place my penis in her anus) and have her lick me yarbles! (?... balls I would guess....)

If you want to go for the difference of A5 the WP is plenty brutal.

The difference is the proverbial tighter bas, sharper treble, smoother mids, it sounds overall more aggressive and attacking.

Just type in google, whats the worst that could happen?
urban dictionary:
yarbles
Another name for balls, norts or testicles. Originally comes from "A Clockwork Orange"

Swamp Donkey
A very ugly, usually fat girl who hangs around in bars and clubs waiting to sexually assault males who are too drunk to defend themselves.

Trademans entrance
the Arse

nothing on sock it or trunky though

All this talk of ceramic Warpigs has me yearning for one - I played my Miracle Man at rehersals into my Randall, this was the first time I'd heard it LOUD.  I must say it doesn't sound as BIG as the WP did and I really miss that.

I got rid of the WP as there was pretty much no chance of any clean from it - it just overdrives everything in sight.  The Miracle Man is much better on this score.

Which BKP is as PHAT as the WP but without being 'so' hot ????

Thanks for the insight Mark!  :D My MM overdrives everthing i put it through HTH, but I love it and it sounds brutal through my Koch Powertone II very FFing loud!  Those RY's i bought which are not in a guitar at the moment, were Fffing fantastic at lots of things. Not as much output as the new Painkillers but great all round sound. Proper sleazy filfy $%&#ers, or really  nice cleans or blues break up.

Mate, having got 2 miracle men and had a total of 3, I can tell you, the pig sounds much bigger and fuller. Its in the mid snarl

It'd sound savage through your koch.

Maaaaaaaaan, why'd they have to call it KOCH?

I hope Ive been pronouncing it wrong and its "kotch".

One mention of me Koch and it all starts over again!

The bloke who started making them is called Dolph Koch. As we British are renown for changing names to fit our sensiblitys it has taken on 'Kotch' as it's pronunciation. But there a Dutch firm and It's prenounced 'Kock'   The Dutch being loose, free and easy with this type of thing, they can't understand why we find it funny! When I first saw an advert for them I thought no way could i have an amp with that name on it. Then I had a go on one and I was sold!

So what string gauge would you have for C# or C and dropping the top 'E' Mark?

are you sure it's not pronounced "koch" (rhyming with scottish "loch")?

dunno any dutch, but being a germanic language they go all in for those breathy, phlegmy noises...

For C# and drop B I use 11, 25, 19, 33, 43, 60.

Its a GHS boomer 11-53 set with a zakk wylde set 60 thrown in. I use the 60 to give that much more low end kick and keep it tight. I also play lead-y type stuff in riffs so I want the 4th and 5th to cut compared to the the heavy low string stuff.

For more conventional playing (as opposed to tech death metal) I'd go for 11-53, or similar.

I'm growling in anticipation! I wanna take it to band practise and plug into the Koch running on 4ohms with no attenuator, ultra low engaged, channel 2, 6-7 on the gain, stand in front of it and feel my nuts shake like Kerry King said in his Marshall quote!         'kin 'ave some!

That sounds DESTRUCTIVE.

Bare in mind, when I first started using the 60 on the legra (a guitar with a C-WP and a tone of natural bass) I backed the bass off on my screamer from 10, which wasnt giving enough with a normal WP in a fairly full sounding but not really heavy basswood/maple jackson, strung 11-53 (my previous heaviest sound), to 5: anything over that is too much!!!

With a high gain head and a closed back 4x12 and a powerfull BK in a modestly heavy guitar C#/C/drop B with a 60 on 6th will blow windows. Your bassist will wonder where his sound went 8)

Just for the legra through a 4x12 (and 5150 mkII).

Crushing isnt the word. Dustructive might be. Imagine machine head on steroids.

You do right.

It was to show a mate what it sounds like. He was blown away, and he'll be buying one very shortly.

Clips are all well and good, but NO ONE can resist the power of a BK in person!

oooohhhhh... i can almost feel the power. it might be because i live in Devon, the same county that all BKPs come from!
