Title: Pickups For Jackson RR5
Post by: PT Pyjamas on November 16, 2006, 12:13:30 PM
Hey this is my first Thread so I hope it's in the right place. I recently got a Jackson RR5 and I want to change the pickups, they're just not aggressive enough for me. I play metal, so anything from Priest to Trivium needs to be possible. I'd like pretty good cleans too, if that's possible.

Cheers

Hello PT & welcome.  This kind of thread usually leads to everyone posting their favourite BKP :)

IMO you won't go far wrong with a Miracle Man, Holy Diver, Nailbomb or Painkiller.  Each of those pickups offers something different but all of them will cover most metal requirements.

FWIW, my favourite is the Holy Diver (I'm about to install another set into a Jackson RR1) - I like the thick mid-range punch & the high output, but I still get nice warm cleans out of it.

The Cold Sweat neck is very popular, or you could get a MM/HD/NB/PK calibrated set...

Welcome :D I'd suggest either Miracle Man or the new Painkiller, both will handle the higain tones you're after.

I'm wondering why you guys aren't recommending the warpig or the ceramic warpig. I just ordered one... :)

I dont know, but I would judge Tim's judgement as he made these beautiful, yet monstrous creations    so I expect him to know them best
