Well as the name says... they were incredible!!!! Matt was on top form and his voice and tone just blew me away!!!!
one question tho. He was playing a tele style guitar (much like his others) which was black and looked newer. but it seemed to have this wierd light pad thing behind the bridge.
Any ideas what it was and if it had BKP's in as I know he bought a set.

I've only heard a couple of snippets of Muse and liked what I heard, but not really digged into any of their stuff in detail. From what I've heard I thought they sounded like a more "rocked-up" early Radiohead (before they disappeared up their own arseholes and started releasing over-indulgent drivel).
Any recommendations on where to start listening?
Cheers

I have an article from Guitarist mag around somewhere that details the guitar but I can't put my hand on it right now.
I remember that the pad is an effects controler somewhat like the Korg KAOSS Pad (could be the same guts).

It's not actually the one in gutarist (the M-one-D-one), but it is essentially similar. In essence it pretty much has a Kaoss pad inside , which is an X-Y MIDI control panel, which allows him to sculpt his sound in real time with his pick or finger. If you search on the gear forum for "Z-Vexx Wah Probe" you'll find a link with DIY instructions for your own guitar.
I believe the pickups are a nalbomb and a BKP 91.
Absolution is probably the best starting point, although all the albums are fantastic. Black Holes and Revelations is astonishing, but it's a bit of a grower. I love the description of Muse in this month's Total Guitar "What Coldplay would sound like if they'd never wet a bed in their entire adult lives"

good vid!!!
although it wasn't a patch on the show last night.... The drummer had this massive dimond shaped light thingy around him that lifted up when he started playing. (at the start it was lowered so you couldn't see him).
I want one of those x-y things they look awesome!!

That is very cool. I found the hack Sifu Ben mentioned.

I might have to try this on one of my old 'dust collecting' guitars :P

Muse are stupidly amazing live!!! :D
Yeah the new black guitar has that kaoss pad in it the (theres the new kaoss pad 2 that recently came out as well), older one has the z-vex wah-probe (might be the fuzz probe actually I'm not entirely sure but its a probe model anyway) in it the copper strip is the thermin which acts as the sweep control. I remember the old days when he just used to duct tape a fx pedal the the end like that. Go to mansons guitar shop to see some stuff and sims customs for the paint jobs he has on a couple of guitars)
As far as I'm aware he actually has a few guitars with BKP's in them. Definitely a nailbomb and P-90 style models but I think had had different one to try out aswell.
Muttley, erm... I'd say go out and buy an album, Black holes and revelations is certainly the most commercial one and quite easy to listen to, Absolution tends to be the more popular one and has the interlocking theme of the end of the world, Origin of symmetry is the more artistic one, and showbiz probably has the least obvious songs but does certainly show their potential before they were famous. Then theres hullaballoo the double live and b-side album. And finally the weird stuff thats special edition or never been released like glorious (japanese bonus song from new album) and fury an unreleased song from it, Cold aqua tomato (a competion song during origin era, its was an anagram of the website that if you emailed won vip tickets to a gig) $% you motherf%£*er (pointless messing about in the studio still has the metronome on it) and many many more various piano/guitar riffs and some songs that have never seen the light of day.
PS- yes I'm the biggest muse geek you'll ever meet  :P

I seen them play when they came to Belfast a couple of weeks ago. I seen him playing one of his Mansons with Mississippi Queens for a lot of the set! Very nice!

In that vid of invincible, is he using a Ebow witht the slide for the intro?
Actualy no he isnt...its a sustainer in the neck

I saw Muse briefly at Glastonbury a few years and they were really good, unfortunately I only stopped long enough to phone my brother and take the preverbial (he's a big Muse geek too).
Apparently the drummers old man died backstage just after the gig. Ended up feeling really really sad about it when I heard for some reason. Probably because I was spending WAY too much time in Rasta Pasta and was feeling a bit funky.

Yeah, that things incredible.
All drummers should have one as standard.
