i got it, wooooooooooo!!!!!!
this amp smokes everything i ever owned before!!the cleans are lush, full sparkly.
the gain chanel gets a bit mushy when you turn the gain to 10 and have it on low volume, but it gets tigher and tigher and tighter as much you turn the volume up (max i had it in my room was 5.. you can barely stand it.)
it's soooo articulate!
the reverb sucks though...typical spring reverb.
the guy i bought it off of (for 390 euro mind you.. MINT condition, Sovtek tubes) is way cool.. he said only reason he's selling it is, cos he's got a VH100 and a GH50 =P he's playin in a band, and they're recording an album (think in flames style) top notch dude.. were talking about music and gear for like an hour hehe.
back to the amp, it's loud (no shite) but i think my room absorbs some of the loudness, since i thought it was louder at his place @ 4.
i also need to move the cabinet away, so i got some more space and put the cab on stands, cos not only the floor is shaking, it's got WAY too much bass in that corner, like drowning.
the guy also had a tube screamer in front and the distortion was SICK!
now i got to change the strings.. which i intended to do earlier today, but a friend of mine, who i went to pick up the amp with, actualy had time today and not tomorrow as he said he would.. in anyway, i got the amp a day sooner!!!
i'll get my ass up and try to record something during the weekend for sure!!
the amp search is over!!!! the tube & right speaker search begins LMFAO!!!

Congratulations Davey !!!
I got great results in clearing the slight mush and giving it a kick like a mule by ditching the Sovtek 5881s and instead using an output pair of Philips 6L6WGB from Watford Valves and putting better quality GEC (NOS) 12AX7s in mine.
I had to use the 'short base' style of 6L6 in mine due o the reduced internal height of the mark II version. The compensation was that the 'short bottle' 6L6WGB compress and go into a smooth sustain slightly earlier than the long base 6L6/7581a types. They are similar in overdrive characteristics to the stock Sovtek 5881, but much clearer and punchier.
Mine came with JJ pre-amp valves, but I found them too dark for my tastes and went with NOS GEC types in the end.
Glad to hear that you love yours as much as I love mine. I think the valve upgrade is well, well, worth it in such a good amp. It's like polishing a diamond ...
:D

i'll check into that.
i havent got problems with clearance as you can see. the head is HUGE.
and great, i offended one person w/ the reverb comment :D
lol.
i realy dont like spring reverb. good you can turn it off lol
and i found out my old footswitch works!
only bummer it is, the 2nd button turns on/off the reverb and not the EFX loop =/
and the transformers in it are HUGE

this place is turning into the laney club lol

^ yeah. happens on most forums.
you can't say much, though, getting a splawn... they're kind of like the second "official" amp brand here.
I have a laney cab.

ah- but pups last forever (in theory)
Thats what pisses me off about buying valves. it's like renting an amp rather than owning it

Nice one, Davey. Now no excuses!
