Title: Hot plate clip test

Quick clips thrown together to test Hot Plate.

Tell me which you prefer. It is a MArshall JCM 800 2203. Stock.
One setting is master volume on 2 no Hot plate.

Other is Hot plate on -8dB and running at 4.5 MV.

b clips sound bassier and a bit fuller for 1 and 2.

Both sound good though. As they are, I think I prefer the 'b' clips but don't know if they'd sound better than the 'a' clips with bass and another guitar with them?

Yeah that was my perception too. With hot plate and Master turned up it sounds fuller. Would have to EQ it slightly on amp differently.

Yeah, I have the same amp (well, I have the 4103, which is the combo of the 2203). I run it with the Hotplate at home, and when I'm at rehearsal I can't be bothered taking the Hotplate so I just use the master volumes. Definitely sounds better, and projects better, with the Hotplate.

I tend to find the hotplate adds more girth when u've got ur amp turned up, harmonic detail is added to the sound but it does sound slightly duller and dialing in some more treble does help a bit.

oh and btw thats the best rock tone i've ever heard!! :)

Thanks guys. I am keeping the HP then for recording. Just got to do more tests now to bring brighten it a bit I think adding some presensce would do that.

I used my Koch Powertone II with their own brand of attenuator, a 'Loadbox II' and then without it. You just don't need it in a big studio and it sounds amazing with those power valves cooking nearly flat out on 4 ohms.

what gear are you using in those clips? if thats just the jcm800 stock then it seems to have WAY more gain than mine. what speakers are yu using?
EDIT: also - yu got WAY more bass. phwoar. My jcm800 sounds quite 'vintage' urs seems to sound like a modern monster.

I liked clip b on both too. Am I right in thinking that was a Cold Sweat pickup, judging by your avatar?
