Just curious :) If so what did you think. I've heard customer service isn't so hot.

I tried one years ago and thought they were great. Tried one again recently and wasn't bowled over - I'd just tried a Diezel VH4 a hour earlier (heh).
The VHT is not worth the cash, I'd go for a Bogner instead if you've got lots of cash to spend.
Best bang for the buck must be the Laney GH100 - £450 brand new, just amazing value. Even the Peavey 6505 I tried on Monday isn't too bad value for £799 and it sounded BEASTLY.

They've got one of those VHT half stacks in Sound Control in town, something like £3000... :o

I played a VHT Pittbull 100 head at Chandler's ~10 years ago - they left me alone in the basement with it for nearly an hour
Ummm, WOW. It was staggeringly loud, had unbelievably vicious overdrive & was about as close to perfection in a guitar amp as I've ever experienced. Sadly it was way out of my price range at the time :(
I'd love to have an Ultralead (AFAIK it only differs from the one I played in having KT88 valves instead of EL34) but they're very hard to find in this country & just a bit more than I'm happy to pay. I'm not surprised about your customer service comment - every shop I've been to who's claimed to sell VHT has told me it's very hard to get stock.
It might be easier to find them in Canada - you could always pop over the border if you're desparate to have one... :)

excellent, but mega-expensive this side of the pond. at its price over here, there are very few amps not within its price range...

VHT's can sound GREAT. Depends on a lot of factors. I'm not a fan of any of their newer models.
I called their US rep for weeks trying to buy a Valvulator preamp. The guy simply would not return my calls. I bought an Engl instead.
