I've just been playing a piece out of a Rockschool book (go rockschool! :roll: ) in the style of Van Halen and it $%&#ing rocks, i want a strat/super strat and a floyd rose!!!
I learnt it in a few hours so that has made me confident with my playing though i wouldn't call it hard, (song was out of a grade 7 book called Third Degree) apart from a sweep picking part which i suck at.

^ ah, there's your problem. anyway, when you do get enough money, just make sure the one you buy has a good trem- Original Floyd Rose, Gotoh (need to be careful it's one of the "good" Gotohs and not bad ones, though), Schaller, or Ibanez Edge, Lo-pro edge, edge pro, or ZR. (and not edge III or guff like that). Kahler are good too.

They have loads on ebay, all from the same seller, i have noticed that guy sells a lot of guitars from the 80's, pretty cheap though i don't really know what condition they are in.

the evh one (£750 at the moment), charvel san dimas (£1750), jackson charvel 750xl (£650 at the moment), vintage charvel with zakk wylde pickups (£144 at the moment, appears to have a schaller trem, but may not- if it doesn't, avoid!), and the two evh ones at the bottom (£1500+) would all appear to be good.
problem is, it's hard to tell what trems they all have- the cheap bar-stewards who are selling them are trying their best not to be too accurate in describing the trem.
Or did you mean that shop seller underneath?

The shop underneath haha, but don't just look at the charvels, go into his shop and look at all the 80's/90's guitars he has, BC rich, Peavey, Dean, Hamer, Ibanez etc.
There is honesty too much to choose from, and i don't know how much i want to spend yet.

^ the safest way to tell is it needs to have one of those good trems I mentioned- just make sure it doesn't say "floyd-rose licensed", "floyd rose style" or similar cop-outs like that.

^ yeah. you aren't saving anything if you have to immediately upgrade the trem- and that's if it's a straight swap! if it's not, and you're retarded at diy like I am, it's a nightmare. before you even consider the cost, and the fact that it's probably not as well-made a guitar anyway if it has a lower-quality trem.

Yeah, i think the good ones are £400+ kinda thing, the ones below are a bit under par. The BC Rich Gunslingers look excellent but the one i want is around £650, the cheapest gunslinger is £499.

Sadly there is something I dont like about that German seller's ebay listings:
It is that all the guitars are photographed from an angle where you have no chance of telling what the guitar is like or what condition they are in
Sometimes you cant even tell what make they are
To be fair I havent ever dealt with them.... and I'm sure that they are ok
Just always seems suspect that they are trying to not let you see the guitars

i recognise the pictures.. they're always the same... misinterpresentation of guitars, heard of shill bidding too (not to mention way overpriced)... though must say, not from 1st hand experience.. thankfully

I have enough money for the auction ones, though i don't really want to buy from the German shop anyways.
It's more my parents shouting at me for buying another guitar when i just got one, and that it will be cr@p cuz it's off ebay, and that it's near christmas and i shouldn't be spending all my money etc...

haha my dads stopped having a go at me for buying so called "cr@p" off ebay after he saw what a deal I got on that cab ages ago :lol:
