Designed by Wayne Charvel, made in USA.
Sounds good, very nice price at the mo.
Though i don't think it is as nice as the Charvel.
Edit: I win!
-
It certainly looks like a genuine Schecter, all the hardware etc is correct. I would guess someone has completely stripped the finish.
No idea what the value would be though!
-
Well it's bloody cheap, only just 100 quid!
I think i might bid.
Speak now if you object!
-
Well i won!
Don't know if it is any good though!
-
well done on getting the new axe crazy_joe. looks like you got a bargain to me. if it's any good you'll need to change your signature to: "I endorse: Tokai - Laney - Marshall - Dunlop - Schecter" :)
-
i'm going to milton keynes soon to pick up my jcm800 from its sevice at the factory - want me to try it out for ya? :P
nice win btw - love that finish.
intresting trem - anyone know what that is?
-
lol 107 quid, i'm laughing at that.
Yeah indy if you want, give it a trial! And decided the BKP adventure!
-
mighty fine axe for little money is what i say.
though i dislike the pup config.
it's got one pickup too many :D
but congrats dude!
-
This will get BKP'd soonish i would think.
-
though i dislike the pup config.
it's got one pickup too many :D
FINALLY somebody who thinks along the same lines as me :D
nice guitar though, i like the plain wood finish :D looks like it needs a painkiller in there \m/
-
To be honest i didn't really care about the pup config on any of the guitars i have been looking at lol
I'm surprised so many people like the finish, i didn't think it was that good tbh.
-
mmm, painkiller/trilogy
probably going to be the next pup combo i am going to buy

It is a Schecter locking tremelo.

Sounds good to me!
I have been craving the Painkiller too.
-
now you're giving me even more gas for another superstrat!!!
-
There is a very nice Charvel on ebay which Feline is bidding on  at £150 at the mo.
-
OMG i just noticed i can now get a battle worn pickup cover :D:D:D:D:D
-
I just noticed the tremelo has not got been routed, does that mean it won't go up and will only go down for dive bombing? or am i just being retarded?
-
I reckon you've got a nice little bargain there!

I'm not at all sure, but I think the Schecter trem was designed to sit flat on the body. It has a knife-edge at the front of the bridge which doesn't look like it would allow for a huge range of movement. I found a picture of one:

-
have yu ever had a trem guitar? if you had the option of pulling up on the trem i doubt yu'd hardly EVER use it - i only use it for stretching strings :P oh - and making motorcycle noises
-
I'm not fond of trems because I don't like the way the guitar loses sustain when you drop the pitch, but when I've owned them in the past I used to like pulling up on the bar because it increases sustain. I agree it's not all that useful though...
It's nice to have the unit floating a bit so you can shake the bar for a nice gentle vibrato without it clonking on the body.
-
Nice guitar.
I know that Wayne did repair work for Dave Schechter WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day, like 1971.
I am unaware of Wayne doing any design work for Schechter in the 80s or 90s, which is clearly when this guitar was designed, as it's a post-Jackson guitar design.
Can you give more details about this "Wayne Charvel" designed Schechter?
-
No, i know nothing about it, i want to know what wood it is!
Also if i route out a hole then the trem would go up right?
I want it to go up because i need to do gargles and those huge harmonic thingys.
-
I reckon it may be ash, although it's not very highly figured (as I said before, it looks to me like the finish has been stripped).
I've been trying to find out about these guitars, and there seems to be very little info anywhere! I think the Wayne Charvel theory is just a mistake. They seem to sell pretty cheap, so I think they must have been some kind of budget range. Not entry-level stuff though, the hardware's good quality. The original headstock logo would have said "Strategy", not Schecter.
Whatever, for £125 it has to be a bargain. :D
-
It is still USA made though right?
-

only when you do a complete dive bomb.
listen to my clip on the players room, i could do that bit, after the main riff for hours, literaly
-
some stuff on the schecter strategy on hormony central

-
Do you think this guitar had a schecter plate on the back once?
Schecter's website says they can try identify pre '89 guitars if you show them pics of headstock & the plate's serial number.
-

Dunno. I read that they may have been made by Godin in Canada (edit: that's from the Harmony Central link Jonathan has posted above).

I'll check it out tonight when I get home from work Davey!
-
I think it is a Maple body and neck, as that what he says on description and both neck and body woods look the same.
As long as it sounds good and isn't poorly made i don't mind.
-
Do you think this guitar had a schecter plate on the back once?
No, I suppose they must be referring to guitars with bolt-on necks. All their early guitars were sort of luxury versions of Strats and Teles, a bit like Tom Andersons now (Anderson's a former Schecter employee, I think).
As long as it sounds good and isn't poorly made i don't mind.
Honestly, at that price it can't be a bad deal. When you started this thread last night I was very tempted to bid on it myself, but that would have been unfair!
-
:p haha yeah, but i'm sure there will be another one 1 day... 8)
-
from HC -"I took the guitar home, stripped off the horrible blue paint, and refinished the gorgeous ash body that was lurking underneath." hmmm -sounds familiar?
-
If it was ash the wood would look different to the neck wood, however in this case it looks the same on both neck and body, and i don't think you make necks out of ash so it has to be maple.
That's my theory anyway, which review is that?
-
Neck seems to be glued in on these models
May indeed be Godin made as they have huge stocks of maple
Heres a piccy of another that was on ebay a while back

gorgeous!!!

Indeed it is!

Now I see what you mean! Point taken!
