Forgive my childish urge to show off  , but here, all the way from Japan and still with the stickers on the pickups, is my new Edwards Flying V:

is it any good?
;)
Looks nice though, similar to a gibbo, but slightly different here and there.

Piece o'shitee.
Not really!
It's basically a copy of a '79 block inlay V, like Michael Schenker's #2 and #3 guitars without the B&W paint job. It's all very nicely put together and incredibly light, about 6 lbs, even though it's mahogany (allegedly!). Despite the light weight, it's quite warm sounding and really sustains.
You wouldn't like the nut width, Dave, only about 40mm. I'm getting used to that and the neck joint - the neck sits parallel with the body rather than tilting back, so the end of the fingerboard is really high, which feels a bit weird.
-
so how much?
-
That is a great colour Philly. Everyone should get a new guitar from time to time ( are you listening Mrs 38th?...Mrs 38th ?...damn, she has left the room).
-

About £430 including shipping, VAT and import duty. A lot more than an Epi or Korean Tokai, but a fair bit less than a Gibson - and I just felt like a change from Gibsons TBH.
It is a good colour, I was going to get cherry but then I saw the vintage white with binding and block markers and it was love at first sight...
Are you tempted to visit Humbuckerland, Mr 38th?
-
Philly, nice guitar, you keep quiet on these things huh :) The Stealth meister.
And Yeah, Mr38th/Steve, U need a 'Bucker, Ya need a 'Bucker! Repeat :)
In fact, I will come to your area with BKP loaded 'bucker guitars for you to get addicted by if it will help :)

It looks real nice (I like vintage white finishes)
Rob...

That is one of the coolest looking V's I've ever seen.

I don't think you need to worry about Edwards quality, they are really well made and great value, they make some relic models that I really like and their LP junior models are gorgeous. I think the difference between Edwards and ESP/Navigator is that ESP are handmade and Edwards are machine made (like Gibson I guess!) The Navigator models are really stunning though, completely handmade Fender and Gibson copies, no expense spared when it comes to the timber and parts, completely flawless and more expensive than an original. I've looked but I daren't touch.

Yeah, I was kidding about the mahogany, but it really is phenomenally light. It's a really nice guitar, I'm getting very fond of it already - which doesn't mean there won't be a few modifications somewhere down the line...
Thanks for the comments, guys! :D

I've had UFO's live album on in the car for a few days and it just makes me want a V now
Looks really nice, although think how much cooler it'd be with a black pickguard and zebra pickups :D

Nah, I'm keeping the white pickguard - black would be a good contrast, but I prefer the vintage look. As for the pickups, I don't know which ones yet but they'll definitely have nickel covers! :)

Thanks! I'd certainly buy Edwards - and order from Japan - again, it all went very smoothly. Maybe an LP-type next time.
So what have you got?
-
I've got there take on the Randy Rhoads V, the RV-138, it's a very nice guitar, i've bought 2 guitars from japan now, it's far easier than I first expected it to be.
-
where are you buying from? guitar japan?
-
I got my Edwards from Ishibashi and my caparison from Music plant.
-
And I got my V from Ishibashi. They're brilliant, the staff are super-efficient and very helpful.
-
Ishibashi have a great spare parts shop that I use a lot when doing/tarting up my axes. They have a points card system as well :D
