Title: Neck Mule in LP jam
Post by: _tom_ on December 10, 2006, 10:34:22 AM
Someone on HC posted up another backing track in a jam thread (we should do that here!). It sounds almost identical to Since I've Been Loving You  (the backing that is, not my playing). I used a V-Amp 2 on the Brit Hi-Gain patch straight into my soundcard.

Tom, your playing is coming on and I hope that doesn't sound patronising. I can imagine getting a nice Steeley Dan type tone with that set up with a few tweaks.

Cheers for the replies.

Mr 38th, I've never actually heard any Steeley Dan

The playing was not Steeley Dan ish -just the tone-with a bit of tweaking I mean. You have missed a treat if you haven't heard them. Try, for example, a track called "Reelin' in the Years" .

sounds really cool. good tone, good playing. i'm wondering though, i'm somewhat new to the whole improv thing, so what you played there was probably all improv right? or did you actually write that out first?

Yeah I improvised it all. I never really plan out solos unless its a harmonised one or something.

I know what you mean about the Steely Dan vibe!  Very sweet tone Tom!  Are these Mules AlNiCo IV or II???

Where on HC can I find the backing track?  Cheers!

Theyre Alnico IV

The backing track is on the Guitar Jam forum by a user called Red Ant. I'll find the link later.

Cheers! :drink:

Wow I forgot about this clip, was ages ago  Sadly my playing hasnt come along much since, at least from what I can tell :(

HC is Harmony Central, just another musicians forum really. Electric Guitars is the best one if you actually want to talk about guitars, Guitar Jam and Amps contain a lot of off topic stuff :P

Bah!  Of course...  How did I not see that?  ...Harmony Central!

Even if you haven't improved in 2 years, based on this clip you're still pretty darn good!  It sounded really good!
