As some of you may remember (depending on how heavy your weekend was), I've recently picked up a POS (made by Swift I think) SG. It cost about £50 with all the hardware, but I bought it for the cost of a fretboard without the hardware.
I've pulled it apart and taken all the finish off the neck, ready to reshape the headstock and reprofile the neck (taking out the flat spots). I've still got to sand all the poly off the body, which I'm not looking forward to and neaten it up a bit, vaneer the neck pocket so it's a nice tight fit and recess the control cavity cover (and bolt on neck plate if I can be bothered).
However, the main problem is how to finish it. The problem is that I've only got gold hardware to fit on it (no pick up covers yet, so they can be black or gold). After asking a mate what goes well with gold, he suggested Burberry, which personally I think is a good idea (I'm not a Chav BTW).
The best thing about Burberry is that everyone I've told (except from one person here) thought it was a really bad idea, which I kind of like. But IU thought I'd try to get some more opinions.
I may vaneer it with some flame maple, but due to the shaping of the axe, the sides are going to have to be a solid colour burst into the top.
Anyone think of anything worth doing to it? Otherwise Burberry wins and I chav my axe up

What about a regular vintage sunburst? Would look good I reckon?
Or black and gold is always a good combo.

I did think that, but I quite fancy doing something a bit different. I think if all else fails then a standard LP type finish may be in order.

LOL a burberry axe! do it!!! and get cheap plastic diamonds for the controls. awesome, lol

I forgot to add that the scratchplate (if I decide to put one on) will be made from perspex with a flattened Stella can glued underneath. God knows that I can come up with an empty Stella can easy enough.
I may also make the control cavity cover the same way

I had considered doing mine in TV yellow, but ended up with black nitrocellous. The yellow may have been pretty cool though, especially if the hardware was to be gold.
