Woooooo!!! It rocks, trem is amazing. Also i tuned it properly without having to look at any guides, i was impressed at that.

Woo Woo, next stop Painkiller!
-
that's almost like a wilky trem, but with fine tuners...
nice guitar, though. \m/
-
I really don't get these pickup mouted plasticy things though, why would you put something like that there?!
-
i have no idea, but it does look a bit naff. I guess it was a cheaper/easier way to allow height adjustment or something...
-
It's most common on non-scratchplate guitars to have the singlecoils mounted directly into the body but some, like this one, have pickup mounting rings, just as the humbucker does. It's just that they're never as pretty as either direct mounting or as the humbucker one. When you take them out see how deep the hole is, if it's not too deep you may be able to direct mount them for a cleaner look.
By the way your intonation is very pretty but does it work? :D
-
Nice pics Joe :D . it looks much better than the eBay ad.
I can see there weren't any problems with the trem floating either!
-
Clips please. At least a video clip of you rockin out! Thank you!
-

LOL i was thinking the same thing...
Sweet guitar dude - are yu gonna painkill it? As a guess i'd say that each of the three switches activates each of the three pups :P
-
Yeah, but also i just found out that the humbucker switch goes 3 ways which means on, off and coil split. Wooo!!
And i don't get the intotation thing lol

Amen to that it just can't be right. :?:
-
+1 there...
She'll be as far out as a lighthouse.

I am glad that you are happy my crazy friend. I ought to explain about intonation- the note at the 12th fret should be the same as the open string (except an octave above) and the bridge looks as though it may need to be tweaked. A minor problem and I don't mean A minor the chord, I mean a problem of no great consequence and easy to remedy if, indeed, it does exist. Apologies for being somewhat verbose.
-
It sounds right to me :?
-
i have the perfect coffin shaped case for it, the Painkillered 80s super strat of doom NEEDS a good home to sleep in ;)

You eat a dictionary for tea, Beatle?

How muchos? :D

less than the BKP's you SHOULD be saving to buy next
-
Haha, they are definatley coming sometime soon

I am a trifle wordy tonight Willo you are correct. Feeling very mellow as I have been drinking a rather fine wine and listening to a Muddy Waters album. A wonderful antidote to a rather trying day.

:D
You are putting my English Literature degree to shame, Sir Beatle!

I've got to pip in on the intonation issue because I was guilty of EXACTLY the same when I was younger.
I've always loved symmetry so I set the saddles so that they LOOKED good.
Once I realised that was not the optimal situation I felt like a bit of a twit.
That guitar just cant be right.. can it?
You have to use an electronic tuner and get the 12th fret harmonic spot on.
(nice guitar by the way) :D
-
I did use a tuner, though i'll try again later.
-
You need to check if the 12th fret and the 12th fret harmonic are the same. The 24th fret is even more accurate if you've got one :)
edit: don't worry so much about the G though, that'll never be in tune unless you get an Earvana nut (see feline) or a Buzz Feiten (the set up, not the guitarist, he would be too big and make the guitar hang funny on your strap).
-
It's sounds right to me... what is so bad about what i have done?
-
It's hard to explain in words, but a correctly intonated set of Strat saddles should normally look something like the picture below. It's like two sets of "steps" next to each other.
To set the intonation, get hold of an electronic tuner and, for each string, compare the harmonic at the 12th fret with the fretted note. If the fretted note is flat compared with the harmonic, the saddle needs to be moved further forward towards the bridge pickup ("FFF" = Fret Flat Forward). If the fretted note is sharp, move the saddle further back, and so on until the fretted note is the same as the harmonic.
If you repeat this process for all 6 strings, re-tuning the guitar as you go along, the saddles will probably end up looking like the pic.
-
Ohhh, i thought you meant the fine tuners.
But i have no idea how to do any of that so i'll leave it for time being.

That is the best instruction I have read for a long time.
Joe, once you work out the intonation business you will notice the difference, but it's feckin hard to explain.
