Title: JJ valves, are they any good?
Post by: JJretroTONEGOD on December 17, 2006, 06:17:38 PM
I am thinking of purchasing a JJ Tesla preamp valve for my new amp the Vox VR30, it only uses one valve, as it's a hybrid, tube/solidstate amp.

I have found one on ebay for around £10, but I need to know how good they actually are!

Have any of you guys got any clips of a JJ valve in action? and if you own a JJ valve are they actually a lot better than an average valve?

I hear they are well worth the money.

cheers,

Ben.

I've got a set of them and they're great, I'm very happy with them. I got them of www.eurotubes.com Send him an email saying what you're looking for in your sound and he'll make recommendations that'll give you a little more gain or a cleaner sound etc. Great to deal with.

I'll send you an article on tubes I posted somewhere on this website way back. JJ aren't the best but they're damn good.

I'm curious now, if you don't think JJ are the best then, what do you think are the best? bird? and why are they better? 8)

I emailed an article that gives a little blurb on the different tubes. Mullards are supposed to be at the top of the heap, as far as I  know.
