I was just looking at the single coil sets on the main product page, and was thinking that there's a small hole that could be plugged with another set of strat pickups.
In order of output, the Slowhands are 7.5k (calibrated), yet the next set up are the Trilogy Suite which are 11.2-15.5k. It looks to me like there's a gap there for a set of strat single coils calibrated around 9.5k.
So, are there any plans for BKP to introduce any more Strat sets?
I'm very happy with my Apaches as they are (truly, they are an awesome set of pickups - highly recommended), but I've thought about getting a hotter set for another guitar, and I kinda think that the Slowhands wouldnt have THAT much more output than the Apaches, yet the Trilogies would be way way hotter.
Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions?
Cheers,
Jordan.

You are right in that the Slowhands are not that much hotter than Apaches-certainly not any great difference. The Slowhands have more mids to them.I don't change amp settings if I use them live. I think the Apaches have such a great tone that if you want to crank things up then it is done by the amp or f/x. My view would be that there is not a lot of demand , certainly not from me, for anything hotter but then again, other players might disagree. I suppose I can say that the gap between the Apaches and the trilogies could be, to a ceratin extent, filled by cranking the amp to suit. It'll be interesting to see what others think-it is about time we Strat players had a thread Jordan.

A while back I installed a set of Mothers Milk in my Strat. I loved the smooth creamy neck pickup but couldn't understand why the bridge sounded so weedy. To cut a long story short, I happened to be down Devon way on holiday so I popped in to see Tim to sort the problem out. It turned out that I'd put the neck and bridge pickups in the wrong positions (Doh!). Tim rewound the Bridge pickup to approx 9.5 - 10K and rewired the guitar to give the bridge its own tone pot. The result - SRV to (almost) PAF territory and a rather happy Strat mangler!
A Strat thread would indeed be interesting - especially as its new amp time
-
I am impressed that you were able to take your guitar on holiday with you.My missus would murder me for that  Actually, her parents have a holiday place in Devon...now if i can get a break there I could go see the BKP guys to share a teabag or two.

I've been pining for some hoter strat pups but I dont think theres are gep when you have the BKP-90/1/2. A p-90 would be ace
Hopefully i will be getting another strat body soon that will be chrome ad hollow alluminium, sweet and can respray one of mine that loverly baby blue, I will put BKP-90s in that for a test

Joe, do you mean Sonic Blue? It is the most beautiful coulour for a Fender guitar-especially a Strat.

Yeah - I actually agree with that. At most gigs I'll use the Apaches for everything from crystal clear funky stuff to over the top Rage Against The Machine.....which is mildly amusing to me, at least ;-)
...it is about time we Strat players had a thread Jordan.
I noticed that....nearly all the "recommend me a pickup" threads are based around the heavier humbuckers!
Cheers,
Jordan.

I do have several things I'm working on re: new Strat sets, all to be revealed in the new year  .

Bugger, there goes another Ģ165 ;-)
Looking forward to hearing more!

Another Ģ165.00 plus the cost of another Strat! I have no desire to change the two Strat sets I have, I want more...and a semi....and a h/b.

A set of Rainbow era Blackmore style pickups would be cool
-
It would be nice to see a Brian May inspired set.
-
how about David Gilmour inspired set named 'Echoes' or 'Bricks'
I really wouldn't mind a set of Echoes in a strat
-
Mmmmm Gilmour bricks....................
YEAH Sonic Blue, thats the one. Nice
I might just have to get some new pups in the new year. Need any prototypes testing Tim ;)
But seriously, could you seel me a prototype pair :)
Its my birthday in Jan

David Gilmour and Brian May influenced sets would be a good thing indeed.
-
Adeson Pickups pretty much have the Brian May/Tri-Sonics thing down (although I've tried them myself and hated them).
I do agree that a Gilmour style pickup would be a good inclusion into the BK catalogue though :)
-
Yeah and I still stand behind the name 'Echoes'
the name actually really got that Gilmour vibe down
chiming cleans, hollow-y soulful leads with enough gain and of course ****loads of reverb and delay

So the pickups would produce reverb and delay? Wouldn't that get annoying after a while?
-
no, that would be awesome
-
I fully support the Brian May influenced pickup. A set of Queens, perhaps?
-
I never liked brian mays tone, but a gilmour set would be Lush! With built in reverb delay and phaser mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm tasty

Still holding out here for the overwound 70's Robin-Trower-inspired set. Possible names............the Earth Below? the Caledonia? the Fool & Me? or, perhaps most irreverantly, the Trouter? :D

Well, it's 3 months into the new year now.....any news?

Bridge of Sighs would be best, but it's too many words. Trower song titles are too long! I'd go for Aletheas, or....
Misty Days.

Misty Days - Perfect, Very BKP.

Funnily enough I'm thinking of getting some new pickups for my charley strat guitar (named after my grandfather), that would suit the bill

I'll buy that in a heartbeat, just for the name  , i'd want them even more than Apache :D

Hi,
My son would love a gilmour set I've delayed buying him apaches just in case. One point though Dave Gilmour uses chorus and delay, fuzz, tube drive, phase and flange, but hardly any reverb, and oh yes about a trillion pounds worth of custom Cornish gizmos. and magic fingers. Tim will never scatter wind in all that LOL.
