Tell me who is playing guitar for MJ in this video pleease, she is amazing! (at least i think it's a she)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJ2tbneVvJU
Slash then fails at life at the 30th Anniversary gig. Enough said.
-
that would be jennifer batten, and yes, she's rather good! astounding actually.
-
That is the fantastic Jennifer Batten. She played with Jeff Beck too.
(Edit: damn, Blue beat me to it!)
Weird seeing that first video - MJ is like a completely different person now, and not just his face.
To be fair to Slash, it's hardly his style. But what he plays there is horrible.
-
wasnt that one played by van halen?
besides, she gets props for playin that flawlesly, WITH those huge horns, lights and 5" high heels
slash realy cant tap, that's why he cant play it well
-
I could play it better than him, and i can't even play it (yet)
And that is my next question!
Anyone know of any instructional videos to help me learn this solo because it is fecking hard!!!
Also does anyone have a GOOD tab of it because i can't find a right one!
-
I think she's saying "If you took the hair out of your eyes you might be able to play it better!":
-
HAHA, that's a good one :D

since when did cc deville play with jacko?
EDIT: also, judging by the video, even dressing up like a deer was fashionable in the 80's...
extra edit: what was wrong with slash's? wasn't what eddie played, but I thought it was good. :?
-
It was terrible!
-
Jennifer Batten is a fantastic player - very sad that she didnt get more attention
I always loved the rhythm guitar track on that songt - Steve Lukather played it.
Another video clip

The skin on my fingers have been ripped off in attempting this solo, and i still can't do it all.

Although, he did used to be in a band with Axl Rose - you'd have thought he'd be used to all that by now.
-
I'd almost forgotten, but I've got Jennifer Batten's 1992 album Above Below And Beyond. Listening to it now, it's bloody good - and it's got some proper tunes and huge funky grooves, unlike most shred albums.

yeah but axl rose was cool, micheal jackson... why did slash even do the show with him? by the way, what was with that dancing? i saw that on tv when it was on a while back, and i couldn't figure out what the hell that was supposed to be.
-
yeah but axl rose was cool
The key word there is "was".
-
MJ's still cool ¬¬
-
Really think she's a great player - if she's good enough for Jeff Beck.....although I did read a quote from Jennifer when Jeff asked her to play that she "***t her pants"....
Here's a clip of the two talented JBs during the 1999 tour
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHaRAfxLd7g
How the ***k does he get all those sounds from a Strat?????
EDIT: Just had to add this one as well ... not my sort of music but must rank as one of the most beautiful melodic Strat pieces of all time.

EDIT 2: This 1981 clip has Clapton backing him instead of Jennifer - interesting because he was using a pick and the Tele which has the 'original' JB pickups that Seymour Duncan hand wound for him.

Went to see Jeff Beck at the Albert Hall a couple of years back - no doubt that he is an amazing guitar player but the music didn't make for 'easy' listening - there were times when you could not help but think "what the hell is this all about??"
Mike

Yes - I agree. Although I have been a lifelong fan I have always found that I never liked his "new" material - then a few years later I would listen to it again and completely change my opinion. Although he was a big part of the 60/70's British blues/rock guitarist scene, unlike Clapton & Page, he deliberately changed/developed his style, probably at the expense of widespread commercial success. Apparently one of the main reasons he changed from Les Pauls to Strats was that he thought too many other guitarists were beginning to sound like him. As you can see in some of the clips he seems to be continously using the volume, tone and whammy bar to adjust the sound as he plays.
-
EVH's solo on this track is my favourite guitar solo of all time it's just great!
it's great fun to play, jennifer does a great version here..
-
Talking of Jeff Beck I've always thought that Scott Henderson has taken come cues from Jeff but is obviously more jazz orientated.
Check out part 3 on the videos- he's mad as a pavement!

I've got Tribal Tech's Rocket Science album and his playing is very much like beck on that, but perhaps a little more crazy, as you say :D
