hey
i have almost made my mind up: the ceramic warpig!
however, i need a few questions answered:
Does the Warpig have the:
1- Metal Tone?
2- Bass?
3- Balls?
4- Power?
thanks for the help everyone

1 - metal comes from the player, not the pickup
2 - yes
3 - yes
4 - yes
-
ok, but i know metal comes from the player, but the tone doesn't...
-
Yes to everything you've asked for. It was made for metal, not soft rock :D
-
YES! that is the pickup for me. i dont care about the cleans, if a song is completely clean i will use my 1970s les paul lawsuit copy by Columbus :D
it has a really nice tone.
hmmm what colour would go best with a black and silver razorback (as seen in my picture)?
-
ok, but i know metal comes from the player, but the tone doesn't...
the tone comes from fingers + pickup + amp ..
so, yes, it is part of the metal tone equasion ;)
battle damage black?
-
which one is that? is it in the gallery?
EDIT: just seen it... looks awesome!
another one that im interested in is burnt chrome, and although it wont go with the razorback, it will stand out... with looks and sound!
A good idea? or not?
-
Metal come form the fingers... heck, I even sound metal on single coils in a bluesy fender, I'm doomed

Go with what ever mate. Burnt Chrome covers will be unique looking because every cover comes out different.
-
hmm yeah. i think that burnt chrome sounds good.
-
i have another question now:
100 quid is a lot of money (to me).
Does the warpig make a noticeable difference to your tone?
cause im using a dimebucker right now, and i want more. MORE!
EDIT: im talknig about the ceramic version, said to be the destroyer of everything pretty in the tone world!
-
It makes a huge difference. You will notice that you tone with be tighter, you will have more deffinition when playing heavy chords, every note will feel like a punch to the face
-
yyyeeeeeaaah!!!!!!!!!
-
I'll have one soon (just bought one) I'll tell you how much difference it makes to my tone, and i'll do some clips too!
-
thanks SO much!!!! your awesome!!
-
yeah i know.... 8)

Ok, I've got this recording I made a few minutes ago, just to show you
what kind of bass response we're talking with the Warpig.
Now, Some info, this is a cr@ppy direct line recording from my
roland microcube (5 Watts modeling amp) into my steinberg
external sound card, and this is a standard Warpig, not ceramic.
Nothing fancy, only rhythm, slow than fast, to understand how the bass
works on this beast, you'll need to either crank up your speakrs (which
I hope are hi fi speakers not PC speakers) or run one of these pickups
through a REAL amp ;)

yeh Id go with that and then buy some sweet Chrome p/u rings to go with it. It l make your p/u's POP. Tis' the season for Wrpigs it seems. I always felt like I was straying away from the pack and yet here I am being dragged right back into it. Ah the life of a musicians... sorry, I tend to ramble sometimes :D
-
its fine! it makes it sound even better!
just need to listen to that clip above...
-
holy shite!!!!!!!!!!!
that clip is shite HEAVY!!!
wow, thats the pickup for me!
-
Yes to everything you've asked for. It was made for metal, not soft rock :D
Yeah could you see yourself playing with Michael Bolton with a Warpig?
Warpigs are pretty dark and have metal written all over them...
-
would making it ceramic add a lot of brightness? cause im looking for something dark
-
I wouldn't call a warpig bright with any magnet, but ceramic warpig will be brighter than a normal warpig.
-
but it will still be dark?
-
Yes it will.
-
great!!!
ive been listening to a lot of Sikth lately and im very impressed with that BKP sound
-
Which do they use?
-
Pin uses a Nailbomb, but i don't know about Dan.
-
i have yet another question about the Warpig, but don't just say "buy the damn thing" because i want to be satisfied with a £100 purchase.
is the ceramic Warpig too scooped?
because my current pickup (a Dimebucker) is too scooped for my liking.
thanks
-
no.
it has an insane ammount of midrange
-
ok i have run out of questions, its the perfect pickup for me.
hmmmm laney gh50l or warpig?? which shall i get first?
-
Warpig!
You will not be dissapointed. 15 years of playing the guitar and nothing, amp or guitar related, has impressed me as much as the Warpigs I fitted last Friday :)
-
with my setup, i doubt there will be a good difference:
Dean Razorback >> cr@ppy cheap multi-effects pedal (of which i will not name, too embarrassing!) >> marshall MG250DFX solid state
but if i got a laney first, then i would notice the difference more.
-
let me put it this way ..
i noticed a good diference through my Crate GX65.
tighter, fuller louder than the JB i had in before
-
ok, ill just wait to see if i can get a good deal on a GH50L first. if i can't, ill get a Warpig.
-
good luck
-
it'll take a while....
-
I have both :D And it made a shiteload of difference when i tried it through the Laney. Though it would make difference on any rig it's a completely different pickup.

I play an MG100 into a 412. It dominates dude. I know its cr@ppy solid state but once I got my Pig It just didnt matter. And its not like I havent played tube amps, I have. But I still sound like me, no matter what Im playing through. To me, tube i a different flavour and its a lot louder. I agree that the OD on the MG's can be alil bit 'fizzy' or just generaly lacking presence but when improving your tone start with the guitar first and then look to a different amp.
Edit; Those MG's are pretty loud too BTW. I once had the opportunity to play to a 500 seat theatre with mine on around 9 and there were people leaving within the first 2 minutes of my set. Yeh, thats metal I dont care what ya say.
