Just wondering if anyone has one or is planning to get one?
I think they look like excellent fun the only problem is finding somewhere selling them. I'm going into town tonight on a mission to find out if theres the possibility of getting one before Christmas. Does anyone know any stores where they still have stock left?

My best mate got one out of the first batch (but he did pre-order it about 3 months ago).
Yeah man, I thought it was really good. That games that come with it are OK, especially the bowling, but obviously they're not a patch on the proper games. Luckily enough my mate lost his job a few weeks ago so has put in a couple of days on Zelda.
Apparently the Argos down there (Rugby) has had a new delivery, as has Game.

I read in the paper that Nintendo are recalling all their stock so they can put stronger string bits on the controller as they have had 100's of complaints of it flying off the thing and hitting people in the face, also breaking tv's!
There was a picture of someone with a huge black eye!

After playing with one, then I think that's a fair bit of bumpfh.
There's loads of warnings to put the strap on, even on the games themselves. What I think's happening is that people aren't using the straps and then accidentally throwing their controlers. Then to get themselves a new telly, and to make sure they don't get in trouble with the missus, they'll pull the strap off and say it snapped. The straps seems more than strong enough in my eyes.

They're only recalling the straps, nothing else. And most of the stories floating around the Internet about straps breaking appear to be caused by a bunch of idiots and there's also a lot of faked pictures it seems.
Interesting article on it here: http://www.nintendojo.com/fullfocus/view_item.php?1166055790
I will definitely be getting a Wii when stocks are back up again. I know lots of people who've bought them (not had a go myself yet), and they're all loving it. The controller really does give a unique spin on games, and if devs take advantage of it properly there could be some awesome game designs coming out...

My mate got his yesterday, I havent got a chance to play it yet but maybe I will get to this afternoon.. He seems to like it. I'll probably get one whenever the prices go down a lot :)

like guitar hero, except you get points purely for posing rather than messing about with an SG-a-likey with a strangely angled pup

i bought an Xbox 360, which i'm more than happy with 8)
Wii looked good, all the talk of gameplay over GFX... just a shame the 1st wave of games have been nearly all pretty poor, especially the multi platform ones.
This time next year, when developers have coding games for the new control system mastered, it should be good, maybe that will be too late?
The trouble is, the really good games are the ones like Zelda and Metroid, which casual gamers WONT want to play...and right now, even the retro downloads are pretty poor :/

I'm planning on getting a 360 at some point too. Especially once my mates game comes out on Live Arcade. :)

From all accounts I've heard from people who own a Wii, the first wave of games are top notch. Zelda, Rayman: Raving Rabids, Wii Sports, etc.

Well, the 360 has been out over a year and it still only has a handful of worthwhile games. The Wii has tons of interesting looking games scheduled for the next few months.
Don't forget the Wii isn't even competing with the 360 and PS3. It's much, much cheaper for a start. Dedicated gamers will probably end up with a Wii in conjunction with one of the other consoles (or maybe both if they're loaded).

Casual gamers are a thorn in the side of gaming. It's their fault we get a new bloody version of sodding FIFA every year.

Yeah i agree with Wii Sports, Rayman etc... but there isnt enough of those imo, the dodgy ports of call of duty 3 and far cry are pretty damn bad... as are some of the retro arcade games :(
Nintendo and Rare (do they even do Nintendo games anymore?) will usually make awsome games, i cant wait for Mario Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Metroid etc to be released :D

just played my mates copy of rayman - popped round for a few minutes so only did some cow throwing thing. :?
still i now definitly want one! just for that part of that game & i'd be happy!!!

I got the wii and the rayman game.
all i can say is this is one of the best games to play with a bunch of friends drinking beers. Beers and a dirty mind make it a lot of fun...lol
the part were the guys are coming out of the water and you have to basically piss into their goggles is hilarious.

It sounds like a pretty cool console! I am a big nintendo fan, have owned lots of the older model consoles.
I'm actually gonna wait about a year or so until the prices drop massivley (which they always do) and then buy one. I'm always behind in time but it saves money and the games and accesories are also lots cheaper.
