noobie here-I have it down to these two so far-want to make a real headcutter out of a 91 Lpcustom(maple top)..need something that will really help me get pinch harmonics easily from the wound strings-a lot of alternate picking lead stuff as well-big fan of the sykes tone..have a pearly gates in bridge right now-there is no doubt about neck choice-huge fan of the sykes tone there-boils down to bridge choice-looking for a well balanced pup in a paul that rips without sounding too sterile-LOVE the clips of the ry, but that is another project down the road...also going with the mule in a standard-playing this axe through a boogie mk IV B
-i am sure both will suffice, based on the excellent clips I have enjoyed-you guys are players !!!no thin-no mush -looking for pup with best definition on alt. picking -huge rythym sound...btw..my index finger hits string first-after a 3 gig week, I need rehab!!so, if its going to be like this, I want a pup that at least accentuates my finger digs-my p gates just isnt getting it
thanks!!

If you can wait a week, I can make you a direct comparison clip.
If you can't wait: The Holy Diver is darker, with a drier low midrange push. Cold Sweat is brighter, sweeter in the mids, and a bit more push into the amp.
Think of the classic metal tone from '82 and you will have a good impression of the Holy Diver. Easily nail tones from Campbell, DeMartini, et al.
If your tastes run more towards Lynch, Glenn Tipton or other 'attack' oriented tones, Cold Sweat is the magic ticket.

yes I can-that would be incredible-Xmas and 8month old=waiting at least a week$$$-looking forward to it

Whereabouts in the Deep South are you, shaman?
If there's any chance of getting up to NYC in the near future, there are a lot of BK-equipped guitars you can try!! If not, I have a gig after New Years, and then I will have no problem throwing together a comparison clip for ya.

sweeet!-straight splawn, right??
I am down in the sticks of north Alabama, bro!!I would trip up to yorktown to try them out, but my little 8month old keeps me somewhat grounded these days-is that a Jackson in the first vid?I also have a jackson PC-1-has a dimarzio super distortion, I think..its a hot ceramic, but I ain't a digging it -not as tight as those clips
-great playing and tone-rock the house New Year's and I will be looking forward to hearing those clips-btw...tell me what you used for the cold sweat clip....sounds graet when it kicks in
cheers-shaman

Thanx a lot, shaman!
Yep, what you're hearing on all those clips, video and otherwise is just BKP > guitar > Splawn Quick Rod. My cabs are a Rivera 4x12 and a Hiwatt 4x12.
The Holy Diver video is an ESP M1 Tiger.

Mhhh, Tim recommended a set of Holy Divers or VHIIs for my Singlecut SE. Which of the two do you prefer to play? The HD sounds great alone, but does it cut it in band context as well as the VHII ?
