Title: Funny sounds from my new BK pickups?
Post by: BadMonkey on December 28, 2006, 02:56:02 PM
Hello All,

I've just had a BlackDog installed in my guitar by a local tech (I didn't know how to solder or own an iron y'see..)

Sounds spanky, however sometimes when I strike the low strings (EAD) there's a rustling/hissing sound?
It's the bridge pickup and it's height is equal across the bridge.
I'm guessing that the pickup needs to be lowered on one side?
Or could it be due to dodgy soldering job?

I can lower it myself whereas I'll just take it back if it's a duff job.

Cheers!
BM

have you ruled out the variables?

- do other guitars do this too (could be your amp/pedals/cables)
- have you tried this guitar into another amp? (if displays the same problem into another amp it's likely the guitar)

sometimes the pots can be damaged if too much heat is used when soldering (don't ask me how I know this)
