im not sure what pups to get or how to fit a coil tap. can anybody help? ide like to get lots of sustain and liquid tone with a punchy percussive chugg and tight articulate single notes. and the coil tap for more tonal variation and nice twang. also would it cost alot. ill go for a calibrated set but i wouldnt know how to wire a coil tap.
Thankyou alllllll!!!!!!!!!

this questions for the pickups section.
I think you can only get coil taps on P-90s though.

I think jibidy may mean a coil split.

yer i mean when you have a humbucker and use a push pull or switch of some sort to take a coil away making it a single coil. coil splitting yer?
bit of a noob eh'.
sorry and thankyou

You'll need four conductor wiring but how you wire it will vary very slightly depending what guitar you have, but you can get lots of diagrams from guitarelectronics.com.

i have a volume and tone pot. should i try to replace both with push/pull pot, one for each pickup split,or should i just use the volume and wire it so it splits both pickups. or is that not possible. thankyou.

Both are possible, having 2 separete splits will give you more flexibility in that you could have both pups on and one is split while the other isn't, but if thast isn't a sound you're likely to use much then just one split is simpler :)
