Cheap, but looks nice, one control one switch, maple board, bc rich, so 80's!
Can someone tell me what model this is please?
-
If I dont get that Charvel I'm watching this, if its any good!
-
no floyd
not 80's
no thanks
-
It looks a bit odd to me. The fretboard end doesn't look like something Bc Rich would do for a Mockingbird. Usually it's just a straight end, not rounded.
Though if you really want a Mockingbird with all the good stuff I've got mine for sale still
-
Yeah but you arn't selling it for £125!
Edit: How much is it again?

Very true! But it still looks nice and i could get one fitted if i really wanted to.

If i remember correctly, I was selling it for £350. Comes with a original floyd rose and a Painkiller
-
I've always had "a thing" for BC Rich and this one doesn't look quite right???
The maple board / reverse head and basic spec doesn't match up to any of the imports I remember.
It might have been made during the Class Axe period of ownership after Bernie sold out but it still doesn't look right.
My guess is that the neck is from a Gunslinger and the body is a Class Axe period Platinum model.
I'd have to see it up close before I invested.
Forget about adding a Floyd to it mate.

When i get paid at the end of the month i might be interested in that, though that's if you want to wait that long.
-
That's fine with me mate. I'm selling another guitar at the end of the month so I can also wait for this one too PDT_003
-
There's definitely something funny about it - the budget-model headstocks usually have the series name (Rave, Bronze, Platinum or whatever it is). And I'm no BC Rich expert, but I can't remember ever seeing maple-board models with fixed bridges like that.
The hardware looks really cheap - those are the kind of tuners you get on sub-£100 guitars.
I reckon it's just about worth the 31 quid that's the current high bid - and that hasn't met the reserve.
-
adding a floyd would cost you more than the axe itself, so i dont know if it has a point.
-
I'm much more interested in Steve's Mockingbird now, i won't have to change anything because it is perfect already.
-
You know that dude  If you want some more pictures let me know and i'll get them to you asap. It's a mean sounding thing.
-
Yeah I've had my eye on that mockingbird ever since you decided to sell it :) Seems like this BC rich is cr@p, so if the Charvel goes for over £350 you'll be getting some more pm's from me :P
-
Stop stealing my guitar Tom!
-
That is a very cheap chinese version - the naff tuners give it away
Aimed at the kiddies - you will lose interest in it very quickly if you buy it as you are used to the nicer quality of the Tokai
Avoid that one......
-
That's what happened with the superstrat i bought, the Tokai is so much nicer to play and i just realised it wasn't for me.
However this mockingbird looks tasty, very nice axe indeed.
-
advice ..
if you REALY want the guitar... see for how much it goes for on ebay, then take half of that and put it away.
then start saving again.. then do the same on the next one. do this a couple of times and you'll have a nice ammount stashed away, for a realy special one.

Like feline said, I think it's a cheap copy. Bolt on BC Rich guitars don't have a maple board. Unless it's a custom shop one, wich it obviously isn't. The controls aren't correct either. It could be a Keiper or it's a home grown mongrel. Probably has vegamatic action.
Better save up for a decent Mockingbird NJ.

No it is a BC Rich but it is one of their cheap ass series - not nice
IMO - the only BC Richs are USA made ones
I have had many of these and some were stunning guitars
I still have a USA gunslinger (pre class Axe) !!

While the USA BC Rich's are awsome guitars of PRS beating quality, for those of us without 2-3 grand to spend, the neck thru NJ series are a helluva lotta guitar for £380.

That looks so nice! I've always liked red mockingbirds, though I think I'd prefer a standard red like Slashes to that quilt. If anyone cares, I won an auction for a Charvel Model 1A off ebay for £200, cant wait to play it :D
