I went to Denmark street today to try and cheer myself up. I found a mid 80's jap Fender Strat with a scalloped rosewood fretboard for only £499. Plays super smooth and the stock single coils aren't too bad. I'll post pics up soon!
-
Scalloped fretboard? That makes it instantly uncool. :(
-
I wasn't a fan of them before either, but this one just has something. It's incredibly easy to play. The scallop profile is like the Richie Blackmore scallop not the big deep scallop of the Malmsteen.
-
So is that a factory scallop, or a DIY job?
-
Sounds cool man! Nice one. I never actually played a scalloped fret guitar before.

I think it's a DIY job. But who ever done it done a pretty good job of it.
-
I think the far more interesting story is why you needed cheering up in the first place. Tell!!
-
Those early Jap strats are great guitars - good score!

haha! my girlfriend dumped me last night because she still had feelings for an ex boyfriend of hers who isn't interested in her. Just trying to keep my chin up and over come it. :good:

in my exp. thus far;
Guitar vs. Girl = Guitar :P

ah shite sorry to hear that bud... her loss were u seeing her long?
-
I wasn't with her long. But the way we were with each other you'd think we'd been together for years. I've been through break ups before but not like this, so it's a new thing for me and i'm finding ways of dealing with it. Getting absolutly paraletic didn't help matters
-
Sorry to hear about the break up Malicious but a new guitar is the perfect antidote. I thought for a moment that putting seafood on your fret board was a bit risky until I re-read it.

That actually looks perfect, I want a strat almost exactly like that sometime :) Not sure about scalloped fingerboard though, I've never played one but I dont exactly have a light touch.
Funnily enough, it should be new guitar day for me some time next week, I've got an ebay charvel on the way
-
I must mention that if the colour looks a bit patchy. It's because it is! lol It looks like it's been in quite a few smokey places over the years so it's very yellow in places. Looks frigging cool!

Like it, a lot!! :D
I wasn't expecting the big headstock, very Yngwie. The scalloping looks very tidy, and have they done some kind of ageing on the finish?
(edit: you beat me to it with your comment about the finish)
-
Hey congrats on your strat, and sorry to hear about the other bit.
The scalloping looks pretty tidy.
I was trolling around Denmark St today too, searching for Eggle Berlins, as new guitar day for me is approaching (providing my fecking employers pay what they owe me)
