Hi everyone,
this is my first post here, and although I read trough the entire forum history I need further advice.
Im about to build my very own custom 7 string guitar, which will be used mostly for metal (of the unscooped sort). as I want it to be very punchy and clear (low B) I was thinking of doing an all maple neck through or a maple\swamp ash guitar. :D
Now, from what I listened to at the "players" forum, I liked the Nailbomb the most , But I fear that in such a guitar the trebles will pierce my eardrums.
I think the MM does'nt have enough mids for me, and the Warpig is way to bassy.
Will Nailbomb set sound too harsh is such a guitar?
If so what pickups will you suggest?
The sound and playing Im after ranges from Cynic, trough Wintersun and all the way to Necrophagist, with the occational Iron Maiden detour.
I want to be able to actually hear the notes trough palm mutes (as opposed to the invaders I currently oun) and have good seperation of low cluster distorted chords, easy pinch harmonics, and midrange.
To sum it up, I want a very articulated metal sound with tight bass, alot of mids, and enough treble (but with a smooth top).
I also have an ENGL savage 60 if it matters.
Please help!!!
p.s.
Have'nt talked to Tim yet. Will do after I hear what you have to say.

I would say:
warpig (the original alnico)
painkiller
the Miracle Man lacks defined MIDs because they are Bassy kinda MIDs and I'm 100% sure the Nailbomb will sound VERY piercing.
Other nice Option to include is the Holydiver
but I would go for the Warpig or Painkiller, tighter Bass response and very Nice Mids

^^^ they are for the bridge area of the guitar. I always use the Cold Sweat on the neck on my guitars so I can't say much for the other neck BKPs.

I´ll get a warpig alnico and a miracle man
