Title: harmonizer stompboxes?
Post by: lifted on January 16, 2007, 11:16:29 PM
Does anyone know of any stompboxes that are just harmonizers?  I have a mlti unit that does it, but I have a friend that is just looking for a harmonizer pedal.  Any such thing?     Thanks,     Lifted

There is/was the Boss Hr-2 harmonist, but I'm pretty sure it's been discontinued.

You can also look at the TC Helicon Voice Live, but I don't know how it will sound with a guitar.

The Boss PS5 is indeed the main Boss pedal advertised for this, but if I remember correctly its quite pricey, around £130 or so.

I've always been tempted by one, but I'm aware that they can only track diatonically. For instance, once you've set the key on the dial, everything will sound great as long as you don't play any outside notes. I should really buy one just to experiment with ;-)

I have a PS-5, and it's a great pedal!

If you want more versatility in harmonizing, you should get a MIDI controller and an Eventide Orville.

What about a Digitech Whammy, would that also do the job or would it be much lower quality on the harmonizer side than a PS5 for example?

Digitech Whammy should work fine, that and it's Midi compatible you should be able to have patches for different keys.
