Title: New Guitar no BKPs
Post by: Dakine on January 18, 2007, 06:17:16 PM
Well, ordered new guitar.
Actually been 'thinning the heard' for numerous reasons.
I love the Schecter PT Blackjack I have so much decided to buy a 'real' one (selling the PT).
So, one of these should be on the way soon;

(although in a Mustard/Yellow color).

When Lowell SG and Burnt Chrome Warpigs arrive (should be here soon) will sell them too.

Anyway, as the Custom Fender comes with EMG's gonna try them for awhile. Don't wanna rip out and re-wire and maybe better to keep stock anyway as it's a Custom Shop.

Anywhoo, can't wait :)

as i said before- daaaamn nice looking guitar!

wise idea about the EMGs as well... i think a lot of people on here get caught up in BKP-mania (which is great)... but as a ive heard a few people say before- BKPs aren't necessarily the be all and end all of pickups...

its good to keep an open mind.

nice one nick!

No Dave, crossed Pistons :)

It's a Fender Custom Shop Flat Head (aka pistons) Tele.
Discontinued now and had one HELL of a job finding one.

Locking tuners
Bone Nut
Ebony Board
Select Alder Body , contoured back
Jumbo Frets
Maple Neck with contoured heel
Nickel/Silver crossed pistons at 12th fret
Schealler strap-locks
Custom case and candy etc.

alder body with maple neck eh...

seems a lot of high-end guitars have that combo... pretty much all the top-end Jacksons included. nice.

I actually don't mind EMG's... it's just that they work well in a very narrow genre, IMO. Also, too many guitar companies whack 81's into alder which they, er, sound awful in.

I'd still prefer BKP, though. But I'd rather have EMG's (assuming I get my choice of model and guitar woods) than a Duncan JB, that's for sure.

It's a very nice guitar, by the way, nick, I like teles. Not blacker than black uber metal teles, maybe, but I'd assume that one feels similar. And custom shop, you say? How much did that cost? :o

:drink:

EDIT: you posted some more info while I was posting, lol.

I'd guess an 85 in the bridge would be nice in alder. It was in the Luke I tried, anyway.

Dave,
has 81 b and 60 n. So we will see. Least they are plug'n'play.
Yep, Custom Shop so nice case, cert, case candy etc.
Cost = Priceless as discontinued ;)
And can find nout bout the color (maybe ltd. run) as all can find was L.tGrey,Grey and Blk as offered and one ordered is a yellow color. Actually, not much choice, was like Rocking Horse shite to find lol

Hmmm, liking that axe a lot. Everything you need, nothing you don't.

Doesn't (didn't) Jim Root from Slipknot/Stone Sour play a Flat Head Tele?

I have an alder bodied superstrat that I put EMG 81/85s in but I put the 85 at the bridge and the 81 at the neck- works well.

yeah, the 85's nice in the bridge of a brighter guitar. Never been too fussed on the 81 in the neck, I never really saw the point, but I don't think I've tried it in alder to be fair.
