Title: My bargain today: VHT content
Post by: hunter on January 18, 2007, 09:03:20 PM
Hi guys,

I just bought a VHT Fifty/ST head. It's got 4xEL84, 2 Channels each with a boost (switchable), no master volume, Edge/Bright switches and Notch switches, Reverb (switchable)., FX loop can be parallel/serial.

I paid: 800 EUR  :P

The clean channel is unbelieveably versatile and nice. Wouldn't have expected that from a VHT. Dirt Channel is punchy, but I feel it needs to be pushed to unleash its greatness (as opposed to the Shiva which has depth and tone at low volume). I will only be able to tell once I can crank it a bit more.

It's in perfect state, has a new matched quad of JJEL84s, only flaw is the green power light is dead, but you can see whether the amps on on the Channel LED.

Now I have two awesome amps, I can't believe it. I find the 800 are a very good price.

I promise clips soon, but will take min. a week as I'll go to Tokyo for a few days on Saturday.

My impression is that it can do very tight stuff in the drive channel. But keep in mind that it's an EL84 amp, normally not the heavy machines.

And yes, Beatle, you can assume that I'll do - after my business trip though :(
