Title: Splawn Competition..
Post by: JamesHealey on January 24, 2007, 06:41:41 PM
Mine just arrived today, and i must admit the build quality is astounding i can't get over how good this thing is put together it's a tank.. nothings flimsy or poor quality.

The tone is very bright much brighter than the tones i've heard on the website, but it can be backed off to get a really nice marshall tone.

check out the clips in the players section.

^ With a 4 month (and growing) backorder on new amps, I don't think Scott will be giving anything away any time soon!

15 weeks i had to wait for my amp.. it's a long time.

deffinatly worth the wait, im currently using Eminence Governors and Eminence Private Jacks in an X Pattern but i dont think i like the sound of the Private Jacks.. they seem to be way too bright and snappy sounding think they're gonna be swapped out for something with a lot more bass and less highs and mids.

James, do yourself a favour and see if you can score some old Fane drivers. My Splawn/Hiwatt combo sounds DIVINE!!

maybe..

I was thinking of going

Eminence Gov, Vintage 30..

Pretty much the same speakers.. and I like the Govs.. just a shame the private jacks are so spikey.

If you want to stick with Eminence, try Tonespotters for a more mellow tone (but not dull), or Wizards for everything you wanted from a rock speaker but can't get from the V30!!!

VERY nice James, bet you are glad wait is over :)
Considered myself due to their DUAL Voltage setup.
Kinda problem as don't want/cannot afford two complete rigs (one in UK and one in Texas right now) but decided lugging it back and forth would be a bigger pain.
Only solution have thus far (and one am going with on next Texas trip) is a Zvex Nano amp :) Hell, any voltage and easy as a pedal to carry. No Splawn but nice enough for the job me thinks :)
Again, congrats bud.

just scored a boutique handmade 2x12 cab with fanes in, should be good.. im not too much fussed about the fanes because if I don't like them im gonna get some Scumback's from South Bay Amp Works... real mens speakers.

But i'll give these fanes a go on your recommendation Ben..
