Excellent. Two wise purchases in my book! You really need a Miracle Man for the new band -- make sure the other guitarist gets a BK soon, or you will be burying him at rehearsal!!

He doesn't even have a valve amp - just an MG stack and some Korg MultiFX for all his effects and stuff - sounds good though and his tone is always consistent.

Might be getting a Jackson KE-3 tonight too in exchange for my Explorer - lots of new gear for me!

 :? it can't... it simply can't!

Congrats on the new gear man - i hope yu like it! Whilst on the subject of HBE (sorry to alter the direction of the thread a bit), but has anyone seen the coming-soon amps on their website lately? I wait in anticipation!

I'd be interested in the HBE amps too - shed any light Ben?

As for the Korg/MG combo - it works for him.  He also does a lot of switching from clean/chorus/delay -> distortion ->lead/harmony sounds.

He's the effects master of the group and all of his sound comes from the KORG - the MG is literally there to amplify.  His sound isn't too bad and at the end of the day, it's no worse than using a rack or a POD for your sound, all of which a LOT of professional musicians use today!

Nobody with a good tone, mind!

I'm with indysmith on this.

At the end of the day -it's all opinion, his tone isn't AMAZING but it is good considering his gear: Stock Dean ML (altho no one knows what model or year it is) -> Korg multiFX thing -> MG Halfstack, I've heard a LOT worse from a LOT better.
What does impress me is that his tone is ALWAYS consistent and never fails him.

And in regards to the use of PODs and the like - I think you'd be suprised on how many big bands DO use modelling technology in the studio.

No point getting into an argument about it.

For those ppl knocking the gear your other guitar player is using, we can compare their demo/EP/album against the new one your band is coming out with and see if their criticism holds any real merit. Until then, talk is cheap. It's also woefully inappropriate to slag on someone that's not present to defend themselves. You come off as an @sshole.

Wasn't slagging anyone personally :? just their gear - i have had an MG with Korg multieffects and to me it sounded ghastly. Noone here is starting an argument but you.

No, not me! You! You started it!

sorry, i don't wanna get into anything here... but Ben, you really, really, really cant talk about uncalled for, and 'not-nice' opinions.

i'll refresh your memory in case your having trouble remembering:

"None. They're terrible!  "

that was in Hunters Bogner thread... at the time i thought YOU came off as on asshole then...

see, two can play at the "lets look down on everyone else because i have the moral high-ground" game....

and sorry about this Bucketshred/Andy.

Ah, sambo the lawyer enters the scene ...

BIG difference between my comment and indy's. The guitar player in question is not here to defend himself. Hunter is an active member of this forum.

You, of all ppl should know better than to stick your fingers into the pie, I would've thought.

i guess some people need to start learning how to $%&#ing read smilies.

get a grip folks.

you cant compare slagging someones gear, just cos he cant afford an all tube amp, or feels he's got something going on, and one butique amp owner "farting in the general direction" of another butique amp owner. that's called trash talking FYI and is completely harmless... it's in the same vein as my porsche is better than your ferrari... or if he's got cr@ppy gear, my porsche is better than your VW Bug.

since when did anyone in this thread actually slag the guy off?

Indy and the other guy were just expressing their opinions that they didnt like the particular gear... JUST like Ben did... wheres the difference...?

Indy always posts in good-humour anyway... im almost certain he didnt mean anything by it...

oh and your little car anaolgy was a bit confusing for me - sorry. perhaps i'll research 'trash-talking' and similar online-forum-ite terms so i can better understand what your talking about in future!  :)

Opinions sminions.
As they say, Like ASSHOLES everyone has one.
Indy basically 'I would imagine' is dumbfounded the gear mentioned works well as he has same/similar set-up.
Language and words are funny things, VERY easy (when not face to face and therefore leading to intonation and expression) to misconstrue.
However, to balance things (inc. Smileys) Ben is NOT blameless as to the 'all off the shelf guitars suck' comment. Now we know, or I would HOPE he was joking, but without a smiley, well, a newbie and interpretaion?
Lets NOT get all HC here and lets just play nice :) Oh, and LOUD

sorry to be pedantic here... but how does a 'rolling-eyes' smiley, indicate a joke? thats a serious question not a dig at you... just asking as you almost certainly know more about online details than i do!  :)

and of course you trash-talk all his stuff all the time- your his mate on here! i do that all the time to my mates too...

and if you agree that Indys was in good humour then why did Ben fly off the handle at him?

not trying to cause a needless argument here, im just noticing someone being hypocritical and pointing it out...

fine if Ben is being sarcastic all the time, but its impossible to tell, because even WITH a little smiley every now and then some of his posts (and other peoples) come off as arrogant and down-right rude...

Ben- please put me straight if ive got all this wrong! if i dont know you as a person then i cant tell when your being sarcastic and when/if your being an asshole!  :)

and dont worry about my poor lil brain davey my friend, lol. after all- if you can understand it all- im sure i can!  :)

for someone that spends so much time online (meaning you) i'm surprised you cant read smilie fluently. :P
i'm sure you know, that smilies are pretty much the only indication of facial expressions, that you will get on a forum. so, talking face to face, what would rolling your eyes, with a smirk on your face mean? i think you'd take that comment very tongue in cheek and not serious

how was indys in good humour? and with jonny there on top .. you'd realy be surprised at how many people use it in the studio. cos produced well, you can not hear the diference.

Quote

not trying, but you're doing pretty good. just like in every other arguement, where you decided to stick your head in.. oo he said this and he said that and i dont like the way he wrote it on a FORUM, so i'm going to tear it apart and use what i want to make MY point come across and be totaly-completely innocent about it.

Quote

and boo hoo, you're going to be there to point it all out neat and dandy.

answer me this one.. why do you even care? did anybody appoint you to be the "lawyer" of this forum? i think everybody here can speak for themselves and nobody needs a spokesperson for their views. and if somebody has a problem with anyone, they can take it out between eachother.

since when are we friends? stop flattering yourself
Title: New BKP
Post by: sambo on January 29, 2007, 08:52:33 PM
well firstly- calling myself your friend definitely wouldnt be flattering myself, quite the contrary in fact... almost embarassing.

secondly, if everyone can fight their own battles why are you valiantly defending your hero (ben)? surely he can speak for himself? or does that rule only apply to everyone else...?

the reason IM raising issues like this is is because i personally have been subject to both yours and bens arrogance and insults/attitude a number of times.

and i dunno about you, but people i know dont tend to have to act like theyre having a seizure for me to think theyre joking... its a lot more subtle than that...

and how was indys NOT in good humour? "it cant?!... it just cant be!?" is pretty obviously a joke to me.... maybe my sense of humour is just a little more relaxed than yours im not sure.

and i never once said anything about the gear so telling me that studio recordings of stuff like that are good is completely irrelevant.

and id like to see some evidence of me 'sticking my head in' in many other places... here is one example - sure... but as i explained... ive done that because you and Ben piss me off, and have done so personally in the past...  and anyway who made you  GOVERNOR of the forum and gave you the power to tell me what im allowed to say?

and to close- maybe i am just an argumentative little b*stard... that picks 'fights' for no reason... but even if that is the case, the only reason it always looks like i "tear apart other peoples posts and use what i want to make MY point come across and be totaly-completely innocent about it." is because you barely ever have a leg to stand on in any argument.

I suggest that you also do the same, the way I read indys post is that he cant see why (hence the  emoticon in the posting which caused this loss of common sense).

Sam was simply raising a valid issue how some people are 'entitled' to make sweeping statements and others who express disbelief are quite frankly abused.

While your usual rallying to Bens side may be noble, it's also quite embarrasing for the rest of us.

time for this thread to die.
