Title: New Guitar!
Post by: bucketshred on February 01, 2007, 11:20:05 AM
Just part ex-d my Gibson Explorer for a brand new Jackson KE-3!

All black, beast of a neck (shame about the neck joint but who cares?) needed a slight tweak in terms of a set up but now its lovely - nicer for shredding on than my PGM - that's for sure!

Comes with SD JB/Jazz set as standard but I'll probably whip them out at some point next month and sell them on for some BKP's!

No pics or sound clips as I don't have a camera or any recording stuff at my flat - unless _tom_ fancies a visit on Saturday ;)

Why? You have a fantastic set already in it. :?

Because BKP's sound better - that's why.

I've got a Jazz in the neck of a guitar, and it's nice for cleans, but really lacks something , and I've never liked a guitar with a JB that I've played (even worse, the one with the Jazz in the neck has an Invader Bridge :o ). Once I can spare the cash (which I've now got less of thanks to my GAS attack) I'll be switching it for a Holydiver.

No - KE3 - my Gibson was about $%&#ed anyway and I just don't get on with Gibsons.

I think Mr. ed is joking :?: The jazz/jb set is far from fantastic imo. In fact it is specifically du to their lack of fantasticness that i started looking around for options and came across bkp's :D . I am replacing a set in my les paul with rebel yells "Yeeeeeehaaaaaa!"

No, I'm not. The JB is great.

I think you meant to say...

'The JB is great to my ears, but if you prefer BKP's, more power to you.'

oh Ed. ohhhh Ed. Good luck on this forum with your unholy SD promotion. you're going down... The man that loves the JB obviously hasn't tried the Holydiver or Nailbomb...

Stop talking and start playing, guys. Prove what you say. :P If Duncans were that much inferior to Bare Knuckles, this forum would have loads of clips that blow the Duncan Tips and Clips section out of the water... ;) I think opening a room for non-BK clips (of course without the free hosting service) would be a good idea. This forum used to be a more friendly and tolerant place when I first signed up (with a different nickname). Now, what used to be more like a family, is slowly becoming an elite group of BKP users... IMO, of course.

There is nothing wrong with a set of SD's, I've owned pickups from all the big manufacturers and played many more, and they are all great - it's just that I prefer BKP's, there is no elitism to it, its product loyalty.

First impression is that you're a fool. The Gibson is worth sooo much more than a KE-3, which also has FAR inferior specs imo. Even if you didn't like the gibson and in fact prefer the jackson, you could have sold the gibson for a load and got a lot more than a new ke-3... :?

First of all, dont call me a fool, it's my gear, I'll do what the hell I want with it. Secondly, my Gibson was second-hand when I bought it and as I said before, about $%&#ed after I'd finished with it, it played terribly and sounded horrible (it was an impulse buy).

The KE-3 has the specs which I want (slim/fast neck, floyd, cool shape, humbuckers, one volume) so the spec isn't exactley inferior (the Gibbo was all stock parts and the build quality was inferior).
Also, the Gibson has been advertised on the 'Bay, in here and in various local shops who were selling it on my behalf and there was ZERO interest in it.

Davey - the PGM is fine, just something about the Jackson neck that helps sweeping a little bit :D
