Nope - I think that he is the crazy one....
-
I'm sure there are people in the world who'll pay big money for genuine 50s and 60s parts - but how could you prove they were genuine? Carbon dating?
-
haha precisely...
weeeird/stupid...
:?
-
WTF he is having a laugh
-
The thought goes that if you need a pickguard for a 53 Tele then you'll pay whatever for it...
Some dealers hoover them up on eBay and then try to resell them for crazy prices - but there again - who the hell could tell anyway????
On a more reasonable level, there are people out there who make a reasonable amount on eBay buying up guitars (especially Fenders) and chopping them for parts. I once doubled my money on a Korean Squier!
-
That seller overprices practically everything he sells!
He also badly mis-interprets the items in descriptions and sells items as other things.
He's quite notorius for his 'sales' of Jackson and Charvel guitars

Carbon dating cannot be used for something that new, ironically.
-
What a knob end
-
arrgggh, my eyes!
-
no no, really, when you've spent three and a half grand on a scratchplate your guitar WILL sound and play a lot better.
in your mind anyway, otherwise you'd realise what a tw@t you are!
who'd buy a vintage guitar without a scratchplate anyway?
-
actually, i'm going to e-mail him and ask will it fit on a Mexican tele :D

Yeah, I know, I was just attempting to be funny.
Seriously, how would you prove the age? Unless there was some kind of provenance like a letter from the original owner - maybe he'd know where the rest of the guitar is.
-
Haha!
That's awesome xD
The ultimate epitomy of Ebay Bull****
-
Ask him if you buy it will he throw in the rest of the guitar for free!
:-)

Make it a chinese Squier.
-
Not even CLOSE to the epitome of Ebay bullshitee though, how about $700000+ for an 'autographed' 'photo' of Jesus?
No, really, it happened!
