Hi all,
the HSS configuration axe that I want to upgrade with BKPs has single coil holes routed that are not the common triangular shape, they are narrow with the long side edges parallel. The stock pickups fit flush inside these holes, with wiring entering the pickup from below rather than on a triangular plate towards the lower side as for BKPs. Is there a solution other than having the guitar routed? I don't want to cut the body because the axe has no scratch plate - the pickups mount direct to body.
Thanks,
Andy.

It's possible to get a router bit that cuts underneath the surface of the wood, leaving the top intact with a "shelf" to hide the triangular bit of the baseplate.
However, I don't think you need to do that, I'm sure Tim can make a single-coil with a narrow baseplate. I think Davey has one on his Charvel.

yes, BKP can do single coils with an EMG type base plate which will fit these cavities. i think you can put this requirement on your on-line order, or of course you can e-mail or 'phone them to check and be sure. they always seem happy to advise.

I've got that on my HSS Charvel, just as for "EMG shape" when you order.
